Disappointed a bit... March 27, 2007 Barbara Millet (Belle Harbor, NY USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Yes, the Dorothy is perfectly detailed, she is almost as great as the original Mego version... but, THE SHOES! YIKES! They are not detailed as the other reviewer stated, I'm wondering if this lucky person got another doll that Mattel is selling. The shoes that came with my doll are cheap plastic ones... no sparkles whatsoever. Would it have killed Mattel to add glitter to the shoes? Worst part to come... the shoes will not stay on the doll. If we put them on with or without the socks, they will not stay on. So basically, the best part of the Dorothy doll doesn't work. We were so disappointed, that we complained to Mattel. They couldn't help us with this particular problem, but offered us a generous gift certificate to buy something else. Of course, my daughter wants the Glenda doll.... wish us luck with her shoes!
So pretty! February 16, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love the Wizard of Oz, and for Halloween I thought about being Dorothy, but I decided to be a cowgirl instead. Her ruby-red shoes are so detailed, and her dress looks so cute on her with her brunette braids and smile. And little Toto in his cute picnic basket couldn't get sweeter. I totally want this adorable doll, Dorothy, and her dog, Tot, from the Wizard of Oz! -Horse-Crazy
favorite toy November 26, 2008 L. Pontano 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this doll for my 2 1/2 year old because her sister (4 yrs) had received one. They both love the doll but it is my 2 year old's favorite toy. She carries Dorothy around with her everywhere and loves the Toto with the basket. (The shoes are cute but I hid them from her until she is a little older). I was surprised that she favors this one over all her stuffed animals.
i want it! January 24, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
this doll is so detailed from the replepca dress to toto and the beautful ruby slippers this is the new verson of the old 1999 dorothy doll (in the list)the 1999 dorothy is better if you wish to play with her, but this is a collecters one but the only thing bad about this one is the 1999 one has better loking ruby slippers then this one and the 1999 one has lite up slippers! so if you want one(like me) to play with then get the 1999 one or the new or both it don't matter as long as i get my hands on one!i'm a boy it sounds werid that i want one but i LOVE the wizard of oz! i say if you want it, get it 5 STARS!
Collector's Enjoyment December 29, 2007 Keri A. Kett 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am very sorry that the user below was displeased that the shoes did not stay on. I bought this for my sister, and she just stores them in their box and displays them. Since it stays in its box, we did not notice that the shoes fell off or anything like that. She did comment on how gorgeous it was, though, and she was just happy that the doll had ruby slippers. She's easy to please and a Wizard of Oz fanatic, so she would have been happy with anything. Though if you're looking for extreme detail, this doll might not be for you. For the type who wants a fond memory of the movie and a doll to just display, then this will be fine.
