Product Description High style in a low-profile oxford. Classic 5-eyelet oxford has a padded collar for extra comfort and a soft leather upper for zero break-in time. Updated flex-link sole absorbs footfall shock from heel to forefoot. Imported.
Product Description What more can a shoe offer you than comfort and longevity? These Unisex 5 Eye Padded Collar shoes from Dr. Martens promise all that and a ruggedly attractive style that will even work at the office. If you're on your feet all day, you'll appreciate the Flexlink sole technology, and if you're watching your budget, the Goodyear welt construction will ensure that these will be looking and feeling good for a long time to come. Benefits of Flexlink Technology As the foot flexes, the Flexlink technology in the forefoot filler softens the compression. An Ortholite insole with open cell foam increases breathability and aids in shock absorption. A leather-hinged footbed flexes in tandem with the Flexlink forefoot to enhance flexibility and comfort. Finally, a unique compression chamber cushion system absorbs footfall shock from heel to forefoot. About Dr. Martens Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460 (1/4/60). To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Great shoe! May 2, 2006 lovemybaby (MI) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was just looking on-line for a new pair of docs. I love love this shoe. I'm probably getting on average - every 4 years get a new pair of docs. I basically just wear one shoe - and this one is it. After the first week - this shoe is worn to fit 'you' which is great and comfy. Another perk of docs. So I've gotten this particular shoe - 3 times! I gotta still give it raves... but my hubby wants me to get a different style. I won't get anything now but docs. Why a different style? Well - I just had a baby recently - and most of the leggings and stuff I wear - well - is black - and my docs have ALWAYS been brown. You know - to go with a great pair of khaki's! I wonder if he'll notice if I get the same shoe - but in black! ;-)
Ouch! November 13, 2006 E. S. O. H. (Minocqua, WI United States) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have had plenty of pairs of Doc's but these are not the best for me........... they are not comfy and they tend to be a little tough to break in. As soon as I put them on and took ONE STEP ---- there right across the top of the shoe is a nice big crease......... It does not look nice and I am "ticked" about that...........plus I didnt expect the laces to have green and maroon colors mixed into the brown laces...... it looks dorky! Plus I have a manufacturing flaw in them. Inside the heel the seam isnt quite right and it rubs my skin and hurts like heck! Hopefully the next model I get isnt like thses or they are going back....... Putting up with these for now.......

The size chart seems wrong. I wear a UK-7 which should be an 8, The shoes were to small, also Amazon does not have an exchange program.
Not the same Docs December 23, 2007 Atomic Leo (New Mexico) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently ordered a pair of these to replace a pair I bought 5 years. The Dr. Marten brand is no longer manufactured in England and it shows. The leather was marred and the fit wasn't nearly as good as my previous pair. To top it off the sole pattern is completely useless. Gone was the hiker boot pattern that would grip into ice and snow, replaced with the 'groove' pattern that does nothing for traction. I'm very disappointed. I've been wearing Docs since the early 90's. This will be my last pair.
I've had this pair for 3 years!!! August 30, 2006 G. Reyes (Virginia, USA) An I'm still wearing them. I went through 4 laces and it's still going strong... It is soo comfortable and a great work/casual shoe. Highly recommended!!!
