Alexander Kalifano is the maker of the finest gemstone globes. Each gemstone globe is handmade from hundreds of hand-cut, hand-shaped semiprecious gemstones, which take hundreds of hours to inlay. The gemstones are hand-carved to represent each country. The semi-precious stones selected are native to the country that they depict on the globe. The oceans are created from crushed lapis lazul. The globe is then buffed and polished to form a smooth surface, and the meridian and date lines are added with a fine 24k gold thread. The names of the countries and geographical features are then added and the globe is sealed in a protective resin coating. The gold stand is a mix of metal alloys plated with 24K gold. The globe's circumference is approximately 13". The sheer craftsmanship, solid weight and design of this gemstone globe is breathtaking to behold.
