For a water bottle, it has problems September 4, 2008 Emlyn Addison (Providence, RI) 4 out of 12 found this review helpful
It's great that it's BPA-free. Good call from Nalgene. But I'm utterly mystified about this bottle's design: 1. The "wide mouth" is so wide that you can't drink from it without pouring the contents all over your chin and chest. Forget about sipping from this bottle in the car. Also, the edge of the opening is sorta sharp...for a drinking container. 2. The bottle is too wide to fit into a standard auto cup holder (it's about the width of a wine bottle), so it's probably too wide to fit a bicycle bottle holder. Who thought THAT was a smart design decision?? 3. The rubber cap holder has to be MANUALLY held down whenever you sip from the bottle; if you don't, you get dinked in the face with it. On top of that, the bottle is so wide that you end up having to use TWO HANDS just to drink from it!! Wow, I'm really unimpressed.
LOVE 'em! August 6, 2008 Julie Berry (Rio Rancho, NM USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love my Nalgene! I have never put hot liquids in mine, but I love that it's easy to put lots of ice in it, and with the little sipper accessory you can buy it's fantastic b/c the 'ice dam' never breaks & you can drink it while you're driving and not worry about getting wet. I've had mine for 2 years now & still using the same 1! I have a spare, just incase this one breaks or gets lost. I find them VERY sturdy b/c I've droped mine a bunch of times & it's never cracked. It's fallen off the top of the car, out of the car, my 4 year old has dropped it. I think it's virtually indestructable. My sister has the Sigg bottle & it's dented in several areas (whatcha expect from alumunm?) Anyway I like my Nalgene better than her Sigg, and mine was less than 1/2 the price of hers!
Great water bottle for everyday use, just like it's called September 7, 2008 Amazonreviewer (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been using this a few weeks so far, and it seems very sturdy. I attach it to my bag with a carabiner and have seen no signs of breakage while hiking with the bottle. I love that the bottle doesn't leak, and it's a BPA-free product (good for me, good for the environment). Plus, I have not noticed any unusual smell/taste while drinking from the bottle (unlike most reusable plastic bottles), but I have not tried hot beverages in it yet. The wide-mouth IS very convenient for ice cubes and cleaning. Highly recommended!
Drink and Dribble September 9, 2008 Jill Vanderwood (Utah) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I like my bright green, 32 oz Nalgene water bottle. The lid is attached, and can't be lost. I fill my bottle with purified water, at least twice a day, and sip on it all day long. I never use ice or hot water. The bottle has a loop, so I can hook it to my finger, and away I go. I also have a smaller, bright pink, Nalgene water bottle, that I stick in my purse. It's important to clean the bottle often, so it won't get sour. I am so glad I went this direction! Think of all the small bottles of water I don't have to buy. And all the bottles that don't need to be recycled. The only thing I don't like is, with the wide mouth, I often get a dribble, down the front of my blouse. A water bottle , Its a water bottle July 30, 2008 Nicholas Breeze (Tallahassee , FL) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Its a BPA free water bottle . That's what is advertised. The Nalgene folks claim that it does not leach color or flavor from food . It does . The bottle will leach the smell of some liquids . I noticed mine leached coffee. I had filled it with super hot coffee while I was on a road-trip and the smell remained. I have dish washed it a few times and the smell has left. I never noticed a taste, just the smell. Anyway the coffee was really hot. The bottle is very durable and can easily accommodate ice. Also it has tick marks for measurements in ounces and milliliters . I like this water bottle. It is clear so you can see inside it and clean it easily. The clear lexan makes it easy to dry since the sunlight goes through it . Sig Aluminum bottles are stupid. You cannot see inside them and the darkness makes it a breading ground for mold and bacteria to grow. Also they bottle neck which makes it hard to clean . The aluminum transfers heat easily and looses temperature quickly. Aluminum and heat can lead to altzimers disease. You are much better of with the practical, cool, trendy and efficient Nalgene bottle.I like the thing but they is only so much I can expect from a water bottle .
