Amazon.com Product Description
Sigma Sport's BC 1606L Wireless Computer with Cadence is the top model for riders who demand precision from each turn of the crank. This version of the BC 1606L DTS wireless succeeds in this not only by providing a better overview of the essential information during a ride by hiding the total accumulated functions in lieu of specific data points, but through its backlit readout that delivers optimal readability of information even in the dark. In addition, an integrated storage chip prevents the loss of set values during battery change as features such trip section counter, timer, and second wheel size are programmable. The set is equipped with a digital radio sensor with the receiver integrated into the bike computer. But the thing that sets this unit apart is the simultaneous transmission of speed data from the front wheel and cadence data from the turning on the cranks. Comparing these two the handlebar mounted computer is able to output more accurate data that is crucial to the training schedule of serious riders.

Digital Transmission System (DTS) Explained
With 2-channel radio transmission (km/h and pedal frequency) and 100% digital encoding without data loss, the DTS system guarantees 100% data security of current speed and pedal frequency values during wireless reception. It does this by calculating all relevant data, encoding it and transmitting it in data packets to the integrated receiver in the bike computer. Disturbances such as power lines or mobile phones are no longer a problem as transmission is carried out over the so-called low frequency. A double security system also ensures that only the data packets from your own transmitter are evaluated by the receiver. This means that group rides are no problem.

A further security measure is redundant data transmission so that no data can be lost. The size and quality of the receiver has also been optimized by a specially developed Sigma chip (ASIC) and integrated into the bike computer which also saves on battery life.

1 out of 5 stars Flimsy Speed Transmitter Mount = DOA   June 29, 2008

The mounting system for the speed pickup is incredibly badly designed--it's just an o-ring that wraps around the fork. Not very secure for a part that needs to be 20mm or less from fast-moving spokes. So the first bump I hit, the speed transmitter slips into the spokes, which killed it and wrecked the spokes on a $300 wheel. The computer worked great for a whopping .3 miles. Give this one a miss.

3 out of 5 stars cadence receiver finicky   August 23, 2007

Not easy to use. It gets locked in the wrong menu and has to auto shutoff before working properly. Cadence receiver moves about. The rubber bands are not enough to hold it in place.

4 out of 5 stars Great wireless for the price   May 20, 2008

This computer has a lot going for it. I bought it specifically because I wanted wireless cadence, and this was as cheap as I could find it.

It was fairly easy to install, despite the cryptic instruction manual. It comes with strong rubber bands to attach most of the components, so they can be installed and removed without having to cut zip ties. I have a little trouble keeping the cadence transmitter in place, but only on really bumpy sections or when I throw the bike in the car.

The display is excellent. It's incredibly easy to read, and I love the fact that it uses *words* to convey what data you're looking at. To me, this ended up being the best feature. All my past cyclometers had tiny icons with no meaning.

Half the functions are accessed by one button, the other half by a different button. Things like the clock are in one set, while speed, cadence, and trip time are in another. This works well for me.

Usually, the computer will start up when you start rolling, but sometimes you have to hit a button to wake it up. This is a minor annoyance.

It has dual bike functions with the optional kit (though it won't do cadence on the second bike). I don't use this right now, but I'm considering it for my mountain bike. When the computer on that bike breaks, I'll probably do just that.

All in all, it a pretty great cyclometer. It works as advertised, it's inexpensive for wireless cadence, and the display is awesome.

2 out of 5 stars Speed Transmitter Mount   August 14, 2008

I agree with other reviewer about mounting system for Speed Transmitter. Terrible !! Constantly vibrating out of proper position relative to magnet. I would not have bought this computer if I had been aware (before purchase) of this issue. I am now trying to 'jury-rig' a solution.

4 out of 5 stars Good Buy   June 28, 2008

Although I don't ride much, I wanted a computer with cadence so it could also be used more easily with a stationary trainer in the winter without having tomess with wires. This product seems to work great on both rode and trainer. The only issue I have is that I keep bumping the cadence transmitter out of place, especially when transporting the bike, so that I have to reposition it before every ride.
