2 out of 5 stars Not a great weapon   January 20, 2007

I expected this knife to have a stiffer blade. I suppose it probably won't break due to the fiberglass reinforcement, but it bends side to side easier than is appropriate for a stabbing implement. The blade has a raised rib, but otherwise, the blade is rather thin. If they had made the blade more diamond shaped in cross-section, I think it would have been better. The point is somewhat sharp, though not extremely, but the edges are not sharp at all. The material is too soft to take an edge. I can put a ding in the edge by dragging my thumbnail across it. I didn't expect it to be able to take an edge like steel, but I did expect the material to be harder than this.

The knife is rather small, the blade is 3 3/8" long and the handle is the same. The grip has a nice rubber-like texture, but it's a little too slender to fill the hand properly. It is certainly light, it's only slightly heavier than a Sharpie pen.

As a weapon, I'm sure it could do some damage, but it's definitely inferior to a similar size steel knife. Lack of a cutting edge is a big handicap. Even a stabbing weapon needs an edge to do much damage.
