Warning: Measurements on new expandable liners are misleading February 18, 2008 Marie L. (MD, USA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I really like using the Drop-Ins system--it's very convenient and easy to use. The problem I have is with the new expandable 8-10 oz. liners. When I first used them, I noticed that the amount of water needed to fill the liner up to the 8 oz mark seemed to vary from what I used with the original 8 oz. non-expandable liners. I decided to test it by pouring water from a measuring cup into both types of liners. The measurement on the original liner was accurate - 8 oz from the cup filled it up exactly to the 8 oz mark. In contrast, when I filled the expandable liner, the water went above the 8 oz mark. I also tried to fill it with 10 oz to see if the extra water weight would expand the liner further, but there was still some water left in the measuring cup even after I filled the expandable liner to the brim! Thus, if I had merely followed the measurements on the expandable liners, I would have used less water than needed to make the infant formula. I just want to warn parents using the new liner to be careful about the accuracy of the measurements on the liner. Because the liner does not expand as much as it should, you actually have less than the amount of liquid indicated by the liner. Consistently wrong measurements that result in less liquid than prescribed by the infant formula could result in dehydration! Too bad--now I have to measure water in a measuring cup when I make the bottles, which makes it much less convenient.
Easy clean up June 15, 2001 Cari Kepple-Foster (Burleson, TX USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Playtex Drop-ins are a convenient way to make bottles quickly. They save time by only having to rinse the bottles you use instead of having to steralize each time. This can also help in how many bottles you will need. After each feeding just rinse the bottle and you are ready to go with a fresh Drop-in and a clean nipple. Also, the daddies are more willing to help because of the convenience of this product. I am very glad I choose this bottle to feed my baby.
Best Liners May 23, 2001 These are the best liners for baby. They are easy to handle, easy to fill and durable. Best of all they are easy to dispose of and store. My neice's and nephew's used theses and they are currently on my registry for our first child! I would not choose any other liner on the market!
love the drop-ins not the bottles October 21, 2005 TnT Baby (San Diego, CA) These drop ins are great. They make filling the bottles and cleanup a lot easier. If the bottles they are made for were easier to push the air out I would be completely sold. In order to ease my guilt from the damage to the environment I just rinse them real quick and throw into the recyling bin. Overall these are a great product.
Best invention ever! November 8, 2007 J. Hanna (Huntington Beach, CA) I love these little drop-in liners. After all the warnings from using clear plastic bottles, this was a godsend. And another added bonus is that it makes bottle washing a snap since you just toss it after each use. The only part that gets milk on it is the nipple.
