5 out of 5 stars The only ones that worked for my baby girl.   December 3, 2006

PROs: It works! The silcone nipple is the best for breastfed or non-breastfed babies! It's attractive! Other babies attack me for it! You can really do a good cleaning on it because you can take it completely apart; top and bottom.
CONs: It's expensive. The odd shape makes it difficult to pack or use on standard bottle warmers and carriers. It can leak if you don't assemble them right.

My daughter didn't drink much milk. I had her on formula and breastmilk to get her to gain weight, but she kept to 1 to 2 oz. of milk until I finally switched to these bottles. I went back to work when she was 6 months and had a horrible clogged duct when she was 7 months. I started using bottles more often. I had been alternating with Avent and Playtex because I had the Playtex Pump and Avent has always been reputable and available. I had purchased a MAM bottle before she was born because it looked adorable, but when I tested it, I noticed that you really have to make sure you screw everything on tightly and properly or it would just leak and, to be honest, I didn't know if I would have the patience for that. I did love the fact that you can take it completely apart to make sure it is thoroughly clean. My daughter seemed to have problems with the Avent and Playtex. I don't know if it was gas or colic or what and she was already in the most hypoallergenic formula, so I decided to give the MAM bottles a try. Sure enough she loved it. By her 1st birthday she was finally drinking 3 to 4 oz. and a couple of months after she was drinking 4 to 5 oz. Now I'm looking to buy more bottles for my 2nd baby, because the Pros really outweight the Cons in my book.

5 out of 5 stars Best bottles you can find!   December 11, 2006

We tried Avent, Platex and Dr. Browns. These are the best bottles by far!

PROs:
* The nipples are the only kind my daughter would use. We bought all of the nipples we could find once I was starting to wean off of nursing and she wouldn't take any of them until we found these. They are more pliable and have a flat shape. Perfect.
* They are super easy to clean because they come apart entirely.
* They reduce the amount of air your child gets in her tummy because she doesn't have to unlatch during feeding at all.

CONs:
* The lids are a little hard to get off if you hands are wet.
* Make sure you screw the bottom on tight or it can leak (we have only had this problem one time - once you realize what you have done wrong, you won't do it again)
* They are a little bottom heavy. It took a while for my daughter to learn how to hold the bottle by herself because the bottoms are heavier than other bottles.

I have used these bottles for all three of my kids and I have not had to replace one part. I would not use another bottle, ever.

Good luck!

I used Avent and Dr. Brown for my first daughter and did some research about bottles for my next baby. She loves these bottles and so do I!!! She is not gassy at all!

2 out of 5 stars BPA free but poor design   December 31, 2007

I bought these bottles because they are an inexpensive BPA free option. However, I am very disappointed. There are 5 parts (6 if you include the lid) to this bottle. If not put together just right, they leak! The bottom of this bottle screws on. It has 2 parts. The liner must be put in the bottle just right and then screwed on tight. The nipple must be pulled all the way through (you'd think that'd be easy to tell, huh). If either of these areas aren't put together right, WATCH OUT! Oh, and be careful trying to tighten one end while holding the other. Nothing like a lap full of liquid!
One other thing, this bottle takes longer to warm than other bottles whose bottoms aren't as bulky.
I would not buy this bottle again. There are other alternatives that are much easier (and BPA free) for a busy Mom to use.

I started with Playtex and Dr. Brown's bottles, but after researching BPA I ordered these. I was nervous that there would be a problem since the nipples are so different, but after a day she took to them just fine. These bottles are NOT difficult to clean, and much easier to clean than the Dr Brown bottles. I have two different bottle warmers, a Munchkin and a First years, and the bottle fits in both just fine. Also, I had difficulty breast feeding due to latch on problems, but after a few weeks feeding off of these bottles, my daughter latches on and breastfeeds just fine. Which is a dream come true when dealing with the irritation of pumping all day long. Much cheaper than the Born Free's as well.
