 Warning! Dr Browns Contain BPA Bisphenol-A April 9, 2008

I liked Dr Browns Bottles, my daughter Liked them too! Then I found out about Bisphenol -A being used to make the Bottles. After re-searching Bisphenol -A, I discovered that exposing my baby to harmful chemicals with the potential for long term affects later in life, was definitely not for me!! There are other options out there, all glass bottles are safe, as well as Born Free, Mam by Sassy, Green to Grow and Adrini. Do your own research. I'm really surprised the non Bisphenol -A Free bottles haven't been recalled yet! I'm sure it's just a matter of time, before enough people are educated.

I love this pitcher so much that I bought two. They mix how ever much formula you need quickly and easily. It is extremely easy to fill with water, add formula, mix and then toss the pitcher in the fridge - it takes about a minute. Since formula keeps for 24 hours you can make a day's worth and then portion it out however you need it through out the day. The best part is that at the end of the day you can just toss the whole thing in the dishwasher. The directions say you need to disassemble the lid, but I've found that it gets perfectly clean if you leave it assembled.
We use Nestle Good Start with Active cultures which can sometimes have lumps. The mixing mechanism in this pitcher has eliminated all of the lumps in the formula and has made the whole bottle feeding experience MUCH easier.

The concept of this pitcher is to keep the mixing blades below the surface of the liquid to keep air to a minimum. Unfortunately, lots of formulas float and need a lot of agitation to mix properly. For these formulas, this pitcher is useless.
Additionally, the lid goes on secure but is not liquid tight. Tip it or shake it and you'll have a mess.
One last item - in order to adjust the height of the mixing blade you have to take the lid off and push a rubber grommet up/down the shaft. This isn't easy and of course it's wet with formula. This seems like a messy or unsanitary way to have to do every time you make and pour a bottle.
Instead we found a liquid tight pitcher. Shake the heck out of it to mix, then a few hours later the bubbles have settled. If you can plan more than a bottle ahead, this might work out better for you, too.

I wish we had gotten this sooner! Instead of trying to mix a bottle half asleep at 3 am or mixing 5 bottles before you go to bed, just pour out as much or as little as you need. We find we use less formula now because we don't waste powder when filling a small bottle, and we can give him as much as he needs without wasting mixed up formula. Love this product!

What a great product! Less air bubbles than shaking a bottle to mix formula and water. Baby is still fussy, but every baby burps anyway. A real time saver as I make several bottles after dinner for the night feedings and next day. Easy to clean and very easy to use.
