3 out of 5 stars Solid but you better have skinny kids   May 7, 2007

This high chair is easy to assemble and use, easy to clean and is not an eyesore. The wheel locks work fairly well. The one problem is that the tray itself has to be pushed pretty far towards the seat back in order to truly lock into place. If it is clicked onto the arms away from the seat, it either hangs loose enough to risk food falling or it won't lock at all. We tried several, it is not a problem with our particular chair, it is just a design quirk. If your child quite skinny, no problem. But if normal or chubby, the tray will likely push against their ribs as they get up to 10+ months old.

4 out of 5 stars Good but expensive   February 4, 2007

This is the only high chair I've used, but I'm quite happy with it. I have two complaints about it. The first is the fabric piping on the vinyl seat. The vinyl seat can be wiped off, but the piping on the seat needs to be washed. My second complaint is the price. Fisher Price makes a similar model that costs $40 less. It doesn't come with the tree toy and it doesn't have the casters (wheels). The toy is pretty lame. My son can't even reach any of the spinny things on it. The casters seem completely unneccessary. The chair doesn't weigh much and is easy to move around with the casters locked. I would buy the cheaper model if I were to buy another one. (I think the cheaper one doesn't have the fabric piping.)

4 out of 5 stars fun fun fun   May 6, 2007

After 7 kids in a sturdy Perego high chair (which I replaced the seat pad once & found a whole chair replacement another time on ebay), I was disapointed it would need to be replaced again for my 8th child. Since they no longer make the pads and I was not happy with the new style - or spending $200 . . . . I came here first to see what other options were out there.
Anyway - the first alternative I saw was this cute Rainforest chair! I was sold right away from the picture, the price, and the reviews! I quickly checked out some other chairs - but, nothing else came close. The Perego we had was sturdy, basic looking, white & chrome . . . . this time around we are going for cheap and fun! It is definitly more light weight - but it actually seems ok - sturdy enough! The seat could use some more padding - I'm going to take the extra little pillow rest from the car seat and stick it under the seat and that should work. We do not have the tray problem that others have mentioned - it is snug and secure. One reason, though, I did not give 5 stars is that there is no place to hang the tray when the toy is in use! Really irritating. What is funny, though, is that you can hang the toy on the back of the chair - the whole thing sticks out horizontally . . .
Everyone loves helping in the entertainment department with the toy. The harness was a great idea! Our previous chair did not recline so we are looking forward to this feature . . . In my opinion wheels are essential - 16 years ago Perego was about the only one with this feature - they really come in handy.
As far as clean-up goes all looks well except the piping - why did they have to use fabric? And looks - well it's very attractive, but - even my husband frowned at the beige instead of white. So, these two little things in addition to the lack of a tray hanger got it only 4 stars.
Overall - this is my favorite new baby thing! Now - I think we'll also try the jumperoo!
11/20/07: UPDATE: Now that we have been using this highchair for a few months I have found that the self-locking wheels are driving me crazy! No one ever goes to the trouble to actually lock them - but, several times a day I find myself fighting the chair across the kitchen floor only to inspect each wheel and then unlock which ever ones have locked themselves.
AND we did get the Jumperoo which the baby enjoys - especially now that she is a little older.

4 out of 5 stars Best highchair that I had to return... comparison with Evenflo Majestic Discovery high chair   July 2, 2007
modern mommy (Marina del Rey, CA)

I have to agree with the reviewer that said 'better not have a chubby child.'
My child was very tall at almost 1 year, 95% for his height at 31 3/4". And I found that the heightest notch in the back of the chair, that the straps could go thru were lower than the top of his shoulder and even when I had the straps fully extended to there maximun length, they just barely fit him, it was tight!
Also the footrest is one molded piece with the seat hence, not adjustable, just shy of fitting him at 1 year, so in a few months... forget it.
In addition, though my child isn't chubby, his leg fit a bit snuggle, and the 2 locking points of the tray were either cutting into his stomach or too far away.
I ended up dissembling and return it.
So, why 4 stars?

Because, I exchanged it for an Evenflo Majestic Discovery high chair in Portebello and regret it everyday.

1. The Evenflo straps are much longer and its a MUCH bigger seat with adjustable footrest but the tray is so high I wonder if they even tested it on a child....

2. The Rainforest tray removes as easily as the Evenflo but in the Evenflo, the leg divider is attached to the tray itself so you have to watch for pinching, though its roomier than the Rainforest.

3. This chair was beautiful! The material is easy to clean vinyl though feels cloth-like, with very cute Pixar-like animals on it. The Evenflo is a pretty heavy duty plaid cloth, surface cleanable but with a real mess you have to laundry.

4. The toy tree was great fun, it snapped and unsnapped off pretty easy. The Evenflo came with a toy also but it was exetremely big & heavy and only had 1 wimpy suction cup to attach it to the tray, which never worked so we never use it on the high chair. What a waste.

5. The Evenflo's tray seems to tip toward the baby, which is a stupid design. Its also very large and heavy, unlike the rainforest where the whole thing is pretty compact. The evenflo has 2 'parental organizer holders' that slide out of the tray but I can only get 1 to come out, I have never been able to get the other one out.

6. Also the rainforest back incline, which we use often after dinner, is intuitive and easy. You lift the yellow handle and pull your hand back to desired adjust incline. With the evenflo you push Down its yellow handle, which usually sticks so makes a noise when it releases, then you adjust by pulling your hand back, which is not intuitive. Its not a one hand release, I usually have to brace with my other hand. Plus, it makes a large creaking noise as it releases, everytime, which wakes my baby up! Groan. The rainforest was silent and smooth.

7. However, just like the tiger on the rainforest chair, the evenflo has a very cute fishy and turtle that hook onto the tray.

8. Overall the Evenflo is larger, because it has a wider sweeping frame and I guess the Evenflo looks a bit less childish.

9. On both chairs, I had a problem with the locks on the individual wheels, just locking on their own when I go to move them, so you do have to keep unlocking them sometimes.

Final thoughts, Fisher Price actually tested this on a child, perhaps not my child but its well thought out. Just please make sure you test your child in this chair before purchasing if you have a bigger than average or fast growing child. Hope this helps!

5 out of 5 stars Fisher Price Rainforest Healthy Care High Chair   January 24, 2007

Well the first chair I bought was a Graco Harmony 2 years ago (the pooh one from walmart) Though over all I was very pleased with it I was disapointed to realize LATER that the one handed tray release did not work properly. I really loved that chair but between the tray not working (you could still use 2 hands)& it not wanting to slide all the way up to our table (the legs are close to the end) unless I removed the infant bar (but had to put it back each time to use the tray) being pregnany with number 2 I decided to look for a new one.

I looked around a bit & found this chair at target... I LOVED the design & $100 wasn't too bad, but more then the $75 I had spent on the Graco... I was pleased to find one used on Craigslist for $50... it was only a month old but they just didn't have room for it in their tiny apartment. I brought it home & my son LOVES it!!!! Some of the great features...

*Easy to adjust & remove harness system (also all ATTACHED... so you can loose on of 5 straps!)
*Bigger wheels, which can even roll on carpet!
*A very popular toy that is easier to use then the previous model aquarium one
*SUPER Easy to fold & very compact to store!!! Fits in out linen closet when not in use! Legs folded, seat at low position its ABOUT 3-3.5" tall & only about 18" wide... MUCH smaller then others.
*Very light weight & a slightly smaller straightline frame... easier for moving around the house
*7 GREAT height adjustments & super easy to change them!
*slimmer design & adjustable height allow it to slid up to most tables & counters

The best part... my 18 month old LOVES the fact that when its lowered to the lowest height he can climb into it himself!!!! He loves being a big boy.

This is totally worth the $100 bucks new, I would recommend it to anyone!
