Good but not good enough September 24, 2007 Leah Cook 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
My husband and I spent a lot of time with our baby in Target last week putting him in and out of convertible carseat models. We were about to buy this Evenflo model--it is super soft, has great shoulder strap adjustments, etc.--but in the end decided against it. The deal killer was the harness buckle that goes between the legs. Even though it can be adjusted away from the baby's body, the clips are hard plastic and bow-shaped. (Look at the close-up picture of the product to see what I mean.) These dug into my little guy's legs and left deep red marks from the straps. Granted, my six-month-old is the size of a one-year-old, but we were looking at this seat specifically as one with growth potential--something he could be in for a few years. If the leg straps were cutting into his legs now, what would it be like in one year and with him in a snowsuit? Not good. We read about this seat elsewhere online and found similar complaints. So if you have a petite thin baby, this seat might be perfect for your little one...but we're getting something else for our little chunker.
Dial is a pain but carseat is great! October 19, 2007 C. Skultety (Michigan United States) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
we purchased this carseat for our son when he was born so we could use it when he outgrew his infant carseat. he grew fast and i was using this seat when he was 2 months old. in rear position the dials are harder to use but after a week you get used to it. it's much easier with a forward facing position. i like the three easy recline postions. i was told by the police officer who checked ours for correct installation that she had never seen a carseat that had straps you could adjust without taking the seat out of the car (a definite plus for me!). my son also will fall asleep in this seat every time we're in the car so i'm certain it's comfortable. we used strap covers for a while because i thought they dug into his neck when he was little but that's just a small price to pay for his safety. i researched carseats for weeks and decided on this one. we're happy with it and are giving it to my sister to use now for her son.
Safe, easy to adjust and easy to CLEAN! June 17, 2008 L. Weihl (West MI) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this car seat for my 12 month old after searching and searching for the best at a low price. Not everyone can afford the Britax. We call this seat the, "Lazyboy". It's big and cushy. We have a Dodge Minivan with captains chairs. I don't know why some reviewers thought it was too big, but the seat fits just fine in my mini van. I'm using it forward facing. It's also lightweight and easy to carry around if needed. I was looking for something safe, yet was easy to use and easy to clean. Top things I like about the car seat: *No-thread adjustable straps and uses turn of a knob system for tightening *Latch system for easy installation and safety *Easy to clean seat cover (uses velcro) and removable seat cushion on top of the cover, plus has a headrest *Reclining mode for sleeping *Cushy for comfort I can't say enough about the removable pad under the child that I've had to clean once due to a leaky diaper. I only had to clean the pad, which comes right out. If I need to clean the whole seat cover, it comes right off because of the velcro. How easy is that?! It has straps that are super easy to adjust with a turn of the knob. The knob moves easily to loosen or tighten. There are 2 knobs but you only need to use one to tighten/loosen. It's convenient that you can turn the knob depending on what side of the seat you're on. You can easily change the height for a growing child by sliding the no-thread straps up and down. There are red tabs on the straps indicating where they should go on the top of the childs shoulder. There is even an adjustable crotch strap. One is closer to the childs legs and one moves further away as they grow. Perfect! I had read other reviews about it being tight on the childs legs, but I'm wondering if they just didn't realize that the crotch strap had 2 adjustments. I like that I can recline the seat while my daughter is sleeping. Without reclining, I haven't noticed her head bobbing at all either. I haven't found one thing that I can say negative about this seat except maybe the cup holder seeming a bit flimsy.
Gotta agree with some of the other negative comments November 13, 2007 L. Brei (Los Angeles, CA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Overall, a nice carseat - but I also have problems with the lever that is supposed to loosen the harness. I really have to push the lever down hard, and sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. Very frustrating! Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the dial knob is hard to access while the seat is rear facing. I guess for the price I can't complain too much, but my biggest beef is with the loosening-lever. I am going to contact Evenflo to inquire about it. If I learn anything earth shattering, I'll post it so others can benefit from the info.
great quality great price December 9, 2007 Starla Skarecky 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I own this carseat and half a big 8 month old daughter. thru my reasearch it is just as good as britax but half the price. I feel that my daughter is very safe. The cons, it is very wide so you cannot stick a carseat write next to it, maybe a backless booster seat. The straps do not com off but the cover detaches and then de velcroes. I bought a carseat cover and could not put one on due to that. But it is very comfy and roomy and safe.
