Prettier than the picture. April 26, 2008 Julie Sevast (Alaska) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I now own two Graco ComfortSport car seats- a metropolitan that stays in my car and this one, which I am constantly installing in other people's cars. I made my purchases after reading gobs of reviews. I had a few concerns: I thought the length of the straps would be difficult to adjust. Living in Alaska, I knew the bulk of my little boys clothes would change regularly and I was afraid adjusting the straps would be a pain- like on the infant carrier. To my surprise I have found that the comfortsport strap system is a breeze to adjust! Pull the plastic tab and the straps come out as far as you like- pull the strap without the tab to tighten- tada! Some people complain that their straps are always uneven because both straps go on one clip in the back. To remedy this, loosen BOTH the straps all the way, then tighten again and they will be the same length. Another issue: I wanted a cushy car seat for my son because we garage sale for HOURS every Saturday from May-September. With this in mind I purchased the metropolitan for our car. Unfortunately, he is going to grow out of the metropolitan several inches before he grows out of this one- it has a LOT of padding. I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered this one- it seems to have the perfect amount of plush. He really looks more comfy in it than the other. I needed a smaller car seat because I have a 2003 Ford Focus Hatchback (2 door). If you have this disadvantage also, this car seat fits great in the middle of the backseat- with room to sit beside it and install your child! In fact, you can still have two other people in the back seat more comfortably than with a snugride infant carrier. If you are pretty short- or maybe your husband doesn't drive the car you could install it rear-facing on either side with the seat pulled forward a bit. - and really, just a bit- you wouldn't have to have your knees in the dash or anything. You really do need a rolled towel, blanket, piece of swimming noodle or whatever you prefer to make the seat level in most cars. This doesn't bother me, but some parents worry that it compromises safety. Finally, This car seat looks really ugly to me in the pictures on the internet and the packaging, but the actual seat looks great. It's just a nice navy and medium gray- not light gray like it looks like it is. It looks like the kind of color scheme a guys shoes would have- so don't let the scary pictures turn you off. Happy Car Seat Shopping!
TERRIBLE! April 16, 2008 Jessyca L. Howell (LAS VEGAS, NV United States) 14 out of 26 found this review helpful
Let me start by saying that this car seat is pretty easy to install. The problem comes in when you want to remove it from the car. I use the LATCH system to secure the seat (recommended by Graco and by my vehicle manufacturer's guidebook), and the lower anchor connection gets stuck in a lock position. The only way to remove the seat is to unhook this connection, but it can literally take up to an hour and many hand, nail, and finger injuries to accomplish this. I called Graco and asked for a refund or exchange of this seat, explaining that the only way to remove it from my vehicle was to cut the straps, thus rendering it completely useless. They said they would only accommodate my request if the problem was a manufacturer defect. The customer service rep said that I couldn't unhook the anchor because obviously I was not 'doing it right'. I explained that the top anchor is designed EXACTLY the same as the lower, and that I never have a problem unhooking the top one, so the problem is with the seat, and not with my method. She responded by saying "Yeah, we get a lot of people calling with the same complaint. The only thing I can tell you is keep tugging and adjusting it. It will eventually come loose." Well, two broken nails, two bleeding knuckles, and an hour and fifteen minutes later, she was right, it did come loose. It seems to me that if this is a common complaint, then it IS a manufacturer's defect. Also, I have had this car seat for six months, and it is already falling apart. The elastic around the cushion that secures it to the seat is frayed and torn after two washings on the gentle cycle (as described in the user manual), and the clips that hold the cushion on were bent and didn't hold from the first time I put the seat together. It is obviously very cheaply made. I should have taken this seat back to the store the day I bought it!
Very good buy November 3, 2007 Mindy Walski (Kailua, HI USA) 11 out of 16 found this review helpful
I bought this item for my 8 month old daughter. The car seat was easy to install and she loves riding in it. We liked it so much we ordered another one for my husband's car.
I love this car seat. January 12, 2008 Natasha N. Mohammed (Natasha N in New York) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I love this car seat. I am very satisfied with my purchase. For the price, the quality is definitely there. My daughter is tall for 14 months, and now she sits comfortably facing forward, and has access to her water cup and her snack in the side tray next to her. We both love it. The material is a little rough, but that just means that it's durable, and won't fall apart during washing.I just put a blanket over it also. I would recommend that anyone who buys this car seat, place a piece of velcro on the back of the head rest to keep it up. It constantly falling down bothered my baby, which bothered me. It was very easy to install into the vehicle.
A great car seat! February 12, 2008 K. Lundahl (Utah) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have had this car seat for about 2 years now and it has been fabulous! I have had no problems with anything breaking whatsoever. I really enjoy how easy it is to adjust the straps and I especially like that the cover is removable and machine washable. The cover stays pretty clean on its own, though, since it is the type of fabric that you can just wipe down to make it clean. I love this carseat and would recommend it to anyone!
