Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars A decent car seat -- but not great for travel   October 21, 2007

We purchased this car seat as a 2nd car seat for travel. Our primary car seat is a Recaro Como. We have a 14-month-old daughter who weighs about 20 lbs. We like the convertible car seats, because they allow us to keep her rear-facing for as long as possible.

Great things about the Graco Comfort Sport:
- Really light. Less than 1/2 the weight of our Recaro Como. MUCH better for lugging around an airport and into a plane.
- Has a level indicator that tells you if the seat is at the proper angle rear facing.
- Relatively small. Fits in the SafeFit 2-in-1 Car Seat Cover 'n Carry. Our Recaro Como does not, which is what originally motivated us to look for a 2nd car seat for travel.

Minor gripes:
- Seems cheaply made. The fabric feels cheap and fits loosely onto the car seat plastics. Our daughter didn't seem to mind though.
- The length of the shoulder straps are not easy to adjust. Like the Recaro, there is a single strap near the bottom center that you use to adjust the length of the straps, but it is very tough to shorten or lengthen.
- If the car seat is not at the proper angle, there is no built-in mechanism to adjust it. You have to resort to wedging rolled up towels underneath it until the angle is right.

Major gripes:
- The seat only fits forward facing on a plane (at least in economy class).
- To secure the car seat forward facing to a seat on a plane, you have to route the seat belt so that the buckle is directly underneath the small of the back of the child. There is literally NO padding above this area, so this makes the seat completely un-sit-in-able for your child. I had to resort to some MacGyver-like tricks on the plane to work around this.
- Not easy to take in and out of a car. You have to snake the seatbelt through a tunnel which makes it cumbersome.

I rate this product 3 stars in general, but would give it only 2 stars if your primary use is for travel.

2 out of 5 stars Doubt it'll really accommodate 40inches.   November 6, 2007

My daughter is currently 32.5 inches tall and her shoulders are already even with the top shoulder adjustment. I truly doubt that this car seat will accommodate a child that is 40 inches tall.

I've had to completely remove the carseat from my car on numerous occasions to redo the straps because one side will get hung up on a plastic edge in the back causing (for instance) the left shoulder to be extremely tight while the right shoulder will be really loose. NOT secure!!!...or even comfortable for that matter.

I agree with the previous review that it seems cheaply made, as well. Doesn't seem as durable as some of the others.

Also, the fabric cover will not stay on. I'm constantly having to readjust it.

5 out of 5 stars Great seat   May 4, 2008

They must have improved since the last 2 reviews... I bought my seat at Target and have had no problems. I got it on sale for $65.00. The fabric is nice & tight, there is plenty of cushion, and the straps are easy to adjust.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Seat   June 24, 2008
K. Schofield (Gillette, WY USA)
We purchased this seat as a new seat for my son. I was replacing an Eddie Baur seat which was to big for my Santa Fe along with a booster seat and an 11 year old. It isn't too wide which is nice. Because of laws in our state a narrow seat is important to me.

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
