5 out of 5 stars Absolutely fabulous -- highly practical, comfortable & stylish to boot   June 30, 2007

I purchased the Baby Jogger, but didn't realize baby couldn't take it for a spin until 6 months old. On Maui, we have limited selection in stores so we order tons online, sight unseen. This was an expensive item to purchase without test driving. I am thrilled. It clips on super easily. (The adapters it comes with can also be used to clip on a car seat, including our Britax). We adore the color. We call it the blue experience....definitely a calming shade.

What we like about it:
* Clips on/off quickly & simply -- on, line it up and it locks in on its own; off, you just pull a lever on either side.
* Roomy and comfortable
* Liner zips off for easy machine washing (not recommended for the dryer, but air dries quickly)
* Provides shade on walks and prevents overstimulation while in stores
* Doubles as a great place for nap time
* Comes with a zip-in mosquito net that works

What we don't like about it:
* the canopy requires 2 hands to raise or lower via 2 buttons-- tough when you are holding baby
* it takes up a lot of space in our car
* Garners a ton of attention when out in public -- plenty of people pepper you with questions bc it's so unique
* People also can't help themselves and want to stick their heads in and have a look at the baby
* about $50 to ship even tho the listing reads $25 -- Amazon kindly refunded us the extra $25 we were charged for shipping when the company refused.

Overall, I often think that this is the best baby item I have ever purchased. Reminiscent of the old-fashioned prams.

5 out of 5 stars Love the Baby Jogger City Series, love the bassinet!   October 19, 2007
Mel M (Metuchen, NJ United States)
Being an educated and smart shopper, I was really unsure of whether it was worth $200 to buy the bassinet and car seat adapter for my BJCS that I might only use for 6-12 months. The only review I could find was by the Hawaii reviewer above and no store in my area had the bassinet for me to see IRL despite the fact that I live in the NYC metro area. Well I took a chance and I am so glad I got it because I love it!

Details about the bassinet:
The quality is fabulous. It is so cushy and made really well. It is hard plastic covered with nice quality fabric. There are two buttons on either side of the canopy to lift and lower it. There is a handle on top of the canopy to make it easy to carry with one hand. There are two handles with buttons on either side of the bassinet for two handed carrying and for snapping on/off the BJ frame, which by the way is soo easy to do. Inside the bassinet are two pockets for storage. Even though the bassinet is hard plastic, it is incredibly light. The cover for the bassinet has a black flap which angles upwards to keep the wind and dirty stranger's hands out. There is also a very nice black sheer mosquito net that zips onto the canopy.

Details about the bassinet on the BJCS stroller itself:
The bassinet sits pretty high up. When I first put it on the stroller I was worried that it was too high for me. I am 5'3" and the top of the canopy is even with my collarbone. I thought that I might run into things because of not being able to see over the bassinet. The first few days of using it I did roll over geese poop in the park and I did run into my husband. However since those first days, I have never had a problem with it. I use my BJ 2x per day walking about 2-4 miles per day with my dog. If my newborn baby is awake, I use the car seat adapter. If she is sleeping, I use the bassinet. I push the stroller with one hand and hold my dog's leash with the other. The BJ is a breeze to push with either the car seat adapter or the bassinet on bumpy sidewalks, grass, and baseball field sand. FYI, I use the bassinet and the car seat adapter WITHOUT the BJ seat. It looks more attractive without the seat and may be a pound lighter. Every pound counts with this heavy stroller.

What else I love about it:
- It is cool looking and is not a Bugaboo. Lots of people comment on how they like it and I have only been using it for 3 weeks.
- I have a portable bassinet in my house or anyone else's house.
- It is great for diaper changes. On my daughter's 7th day of life while I was sitting in the waiting area of the hospital for 1 hour, my daughter pooped twice. I was able to change her diaper privately right in it without having to use the dirty changing table in the restroom.

The bassinet and car seat adapter are so worth $200! I definitely recommend it! I am a little disappointed that next year BJ is switching to the soft carry cot like Mountain BuggyMOUNTAIN BUGGY CARRYCOT - SINGLE - NAVY (COLOR NOT SHOWN). I like the hard bassinet so much better. I like the style of the new 2008 Baby Jogger City Elite Single Stroller - Tan/Black, but I do not like the soft carrycot. Oh well.

5 out of 5 stars Great product!   November 3, 2007

I love this bassinet. The quality is great. I am so satisfied with the purchase!
Pros: you can be outside any time walking or just enjoying the weather while your baby is sleeping with comfort. It is like a crib on the wheels.
Cons: it works only with certain baby joggers. (Not an issue for me since I've got the one that is needed for it).
