Amazon.com Product Reviews

Jumpstart baby's development with the Evenflo ExerSaucer Delux active learning center. It does require some assembly, and with all the toys and parts, this takes a little while to put together. But once you've achieved that, you and baby are rewarded with hours of activity. Made of durable, molded plastic, the learning center can be used indoors or outdoors. Three height positions allow the toy to grow with baby, and the seat locks in six positions to provide stability. Inside the ExerSaucer baby can sit, stand, rock, bounce, and play with the seven age-appropriate toys. The Evenflo ExerSaucer Delux was created to help children reach nine key developmental milestones:

  • Tactile development
  • Visual development
  • Object permanence
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Gross motor skills
  • Fine motor skills
  • Object exploration
  • Cause and effect learning
The seat pad is removable and washable, and the manufacturer recommended age is four months until walking age with a maximum height of 30 inches. --Scott Teal

Helps Baby Reach Nine Key Developmental Milestones
Made to encourage mental and physical growth while keeping your baby's interest, the ExerSaucer both entertains and helps baby reach nine important developmental milestones. The learning center's bright colors and varying textures aid tactile and visual development, while the different games teach baby about object permanence.

Playing with the toys supports healthy hand-eye coordination and hones both gross and fine motor skills. Babies also learn to explore the varying object functions so they gain knowledge of cause and effect relationships.

Physical Exercise For a Happy, Healthy Baby
Bouncing in the seat, rocking back and forth and turning to see and play with the different toys helps baby's physical development. These movements strengthen neck, back and leg muscles to improve gross motor skills and inspire a love of movement. In addition, the landscaped tray brings the adorable garden-theme toys within baby's reach, while still allowing baby to stretch from different angles as he plays.

Comfortable Positioning That Grows With Your Child
One of the unique features of this ExerSaucer is that it truly grows with your child. Three height adjustments allow you to ensure a comfortable playing environment, while the three flip-down feet give younger babies the stability they need to attempt rocking and spinning.

For added safety, the seat locks in six positions to provide stability. Once inside the ExerSaucer, your baby can sit, stand, rock, bounce, and play with the seven age-appropriate toys, either independently or with mom and dad there to share in the fun.

The convenient carrying handle also lets you move the ExerSaucer quickly and easily so your child can play wherever you are in the house. And the removable seat is machine washable for a clean, hygienic play environment.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Toy for Baby, Crummy Assembly Manual   November 10, 2007
Honus Wagner (New York, NY)

This product is a good, inexpensive baby saucer. Our 4 month old rapidly got bored with the bouncy seat and the play mat..they get tired of laying on their backs yet aren't big enough to crawl around so these saucers are great for that. However, I didn't want to spend $100 or more on something that my rapidly growing child would outgrow or get bored with in just a couple of months so this evenflo saucer fit the bill. There is some assembly required and the directions were woefully inadequate. The instruction manual is in two tone monochrome and the pictures are small. Step 4 of the assembly instructions says: "Align triangle on the back of the seat ring with the red diamond." Folks, I looked and looked and my wife looked..there was no "red diamond" anywhere. I knew from the picture where it was SUPPOSED to be but it wasn't actually there. Being logical and working in the software industry I tend to freeze up when the instructions can't be absolutely defined and followed. Eventually I just put the thing together using intuition and a quick reference of the color picture online. It's not rocket science but why does Evenflo have to cut corners with their manual? Just charge a few bucks extra and create a manual that doesn't suck.

Anywho, our baby likes the toy and it occupies her mind for now. I used super glue to glue the posts to the base of the saucer. I don't plan to disassemble this thing any time soon and they seem loose and cheap and look as though they could slide out of place. I also used olive oil to lubricate the contact points of the post and upper tray. If you don't do this, the child's bouncing will make an annoying plastic on plastic squeaking/crunching noise. Also, you may want to wipe the thing down with clorox and wash the seat before using. No telling what the factory in China uses as chemicals to manufacture these parts. The product itself is apparently made in the USA but the parts are labeled China.

Overall: Cheap product that suits it's purpose.

4 out of 5 stars How to put the seat fabric back on after washing   November 1, 2007

1. Push the fabric seat down thru the middle of the exersaucer as if it were properly in place. Make sure the white label sewn onto the seat is toward the INSIDE of the seat at the moment. The label should also be toward the back of the seat, which is where the baby's back would be. The white sewn-on label has a red diamond on it, though mine was washed off. It should be toward a tiny triangle mark molded into the outside of the seat back.

2. Fold the seat fabric over the red plastic seat back so the white sewn-on label is now on the outside of the seat rim. Do the same all around, so the fabric covers the red plastic seat rim sort of like a padded bumper.

3. Grab a thin implement like a butter knife. Put the point of the knife inside one of the elastic loops and push it between the seat ring and the rotating ring, from outside to inside. There is a thin slot here all around which you can see through. The loop should go through fairly easily, in a horizontal orientation.

4. When you get a loop thru to the inside, grab it, pull it down under the rotating ring, then toward the outside of the ES, and finally around one of the little red prongs on the underside of the rotating ring (made for this purpose).

5. Back up top, grab the white plastic tab that's attached to the elastic loop you just fastened. Lever it down and into the slot between the seat ring and the rotating ring that you just pushed the loop through. This holds the fabric down low around the red plastic rings, where it belongs.

6. Repeat all around.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad   January 2, 2008

I chose this model of exersaucer because it was the least "busy;" no batteries, no flashing lights, no loud music or beeping or other ADHD-inducing extras. It's pretty basic, but our 4-month-old enjoys it.

We weren't sure if she'd be able to sit and play in it yet, although it is recommended for 4 months and up, but she does just fine. If your baby is still a little wobbly, like ours, just be sure she keeps her hands up near the tray. Our daughter sometimes puts her hands down into the seat near her legs, and has almost hit her head on one of the toys when she couldn't balance without her hands.

My only complaint about this exersaucer is that the toys are kind of lame. The spinning frog is a hit, but the other toys are pretty bland chunks of plastic. Luckily, you can buy "Switcheroos," different toys that snap in and out of the holes in the tray. Some of these are much more interesting than the included toys, so I think we'll be upgrading soon. All in all, though, this exersaucer is a good toy for the money.

I love this activity center. It is a big help to me when I need to keep the little one occupied. I would recommend it to anyone. The only thing I didn't like was the assembling part. The directions are not that great.

I'm a grandmother and bought this to have available when my grandkids come to visit. The price was a big factor in the selection, but it turned out that my grandkids have liked it better than the comparable Baby Einstein product I bought for their house that cost a lot more. This exersaucer bounces up and down as the child bounces. My youngest grandson has been especially entertained by that feature.
