Perfect for all new babies no matter what! September 25, 2006 Emily-Jeanne (Detroit Lakes, MN United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
All new babies have sensitive skin - not just the ones with light skin and hair! I know that you want your baby to "smell like a baby" - but please don't put that perfumed stuff on him! This Aveeno stuff is perfect for babies. It cleans gently and rinses quickly. You can use it with a wash cloth or just on your hands for better baby-gripping. The bottle also says you can put some right in the bath as it runs, but it doesn't create a foam or bubbles like you might expect(because it's only a gentle cleanser and not full of the bubbly chemical additives the other stuff has). It is truly tear-free. I know for sure - my baby and I tested it on accident numerous times. It leaves no after scent on your baby, but wouldn't you rather have your baby smell like your own baby and not like someone's product? We love Aveeno. And 8 months later, it's still our favorite. Buy this wash AND the sensitive lotion and you'll have a clean, moisturized, itch-free, bump-free, rash-free, happy baby! (Plus, the lotion is perfect for Mommy's hands, too!)
I love the smell March 23, 2007 E. Wilson (Oregon) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this as well as the regular shampoo, this was definitely creamy, looking more like lotion than the clear baby shampoo of most brands. It has a nice light smell that stayed in my daughter's hair after the bath. The only issue I had was that it didn't dilute at all, even after swishing the bath water around it stayed as dollop at the bottom of the baby tub. I found the best way to use it was to rub it into a washcloth and swish the washcloth through the water. The regular shampoo dilutes beautifully but has a slightly different smell (just as nice) but the creamy wash was notably more moisturizing.
Buyer beware! April 6, 2008 K. Young (Tucson, AZ United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I realize most people probably don't buy this product [...], but I felt the need to post a warning somewhere. I am a mother of two young boys who both have sensitive, dry skin, hence the reason I initially switched from good old yellow Johnson & Johnson to Aveeno products. Upon switching to Aveeno products both my boys had WORSE dry irritated skin. Well, I decided to take a closer look at the label and not only realized that Aveeno is manufactured by Johnson & Johnson, but if you look at it side-by-side with the standard J&J Baby shampoo (yellow stuff) the Aveeno has most of the same key ingredients the J&J baby shampoo has PLUS MORE!! I certainly feel partially at fault for not reading the label more carefully, but I also feel the Aveeno product line is marketed in a VERY MISLEADING MANNER. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT NATURAL AT ALL!! Harsh soaps and chemicals abound, and the only "natural" product in it, the oat extract, is a allergen to some kids/people. So buyer beware, the Aveeno product line is just a pricy Johnson & Johnson scam! If your kids truly have dry sensitive skin stay away from this product. I have since looked more closely at the labels and have switched to California Baby Super Sensitive products for my boys (no, I don't work for or have a stake in the CA Baby company), these truly are all natural, work great and the dry, red skin is gone.
Not for Eczema Babies July 13, 2008 ellis bell (chapel hill, nc) I love Aveeno diaper creme and their lotion/bath wash worked fine for my older daughter, but I bought the special creamy "oat" wash for my newborn with eczema and it seems to make him break out right away.
