Rated 4 out of 5 because it still contains "Sodium Laurel Sulfate" SLS is a known irritant October 19, 2007 A. Ochoa (California, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The reason I gave this product a 4 was because it didn't contain aspartame, sorbitol, sodium saccharin or artificial colors. After reading through the ingredients on countless brands of toothpaste in the market, Tom's of Maine is the "Only" brand in the market that had the least amount of unnecessary ingredients. Although, Tom's of Maine should really work harder to find a better lathering agent rather than Sodium Laurel Sulfate, a known irritant! We understand it's the cheapest lathering agent on the market. Why not go "all natural?" Why not put people first and money second? Why not try adding baking soda or vegetable glycerine to your toothpaste instead? If Sodium Laurel Sulfate were to be excluded from all of your toothpaste this would be the "Only" toothpaste our household would ever use! I'd love to give Tom's of Maine a 5** in the future for not using SLS!!

Kid's love it. All natural is the best selling point. NO COLOR!! Results have been great.
A Really Good Children's Toothpaste September 14, 2008 James Koenig (Minnesota) Tom's of Maine is known for only incorporating natural ingredients in it's toothpaste. This particular brand of toothpaste carries the certification of the American Dental Association (thus it has fluoride and is not too abrasive). What I really like about Toms' of Maine is the label. It explains what is in each tube! No other toothpaste does this and Tom's of Maine is to be highly commended for listing each ingredient and why it is there. There are two drawbacks to this toothpaste. The first is its price. It will cost slightly more than other toothpastes, but knowing what you are getting inside the tube is worth the extra price to this mouth. Second, it contains sodium lauryl sulfate, which for some folks is very irritating to their oral mucosa. Dr. Jim Koenig, DDS
Yummy! November 29, 2008 Rachael Bush (Ogden, UT United States) My son loves this toothpaste, it has a light orange flavor with a hint of mango....yum!! Plus, the monkey on the tube is cute! Anything you can do to encourage brushing, right?
