Product Description The Diaper Genie Twistaway Disposal System is the only diaper disposal product that individually wraps diapers in a triple-barrier film, sealing away odor and germs. Refills have a baby-fresh scent and can be used for babies of all ages.
Editorial Review Everyone agrees: dirty diapers stink. If parents could, they'd probably call in a genie to magic away all evidence of those poopy dipes. But for those who have not found an enchanted lamp lately, the new and improved Diaper Genie is a pretty good alternative. The basic idea is that you drop the used diaper into the bin, give the lid a few twists, and voila! The offensive item has been sealed away into a scented plastic liner. When the bin is full, open the base of the Genie and dump the sausaged, wrapped diapers into the garbage. No odor, no germs, no fuss! The newly designed version features more convenient one-handed operation and a built-in cutting system (with safety latch to keep little fingers out) for easy and quick disposal. Inserting the refills has also been made easier--just remove the old refill, plop in the new one, and tie a knot. Includes one Stage 1 refill (for breast- or formula-fed babies only). Assembly required. --Emilie Coulter

We LOVE the NEW Diaper Genie!! :) August 16, 2004 M. Douglas (Batesburg, SC) 376 out of 391 found this review helpful
Be advised...many of these reviews are for the OLD Diaper Genie, but the NEW Diaper Genie works great!! My daughter is six and a half months old. After fighting with the Neat Diaper Disposal System by Safety First (Way too wasteful!!!)for six months, we decided upon the Diaper Genie based on the recommendation of my cousin. We LOVE it!! The new version is very easy to use. To refill it, you simply drop the refill in, tie a knot in the bag, and you're ready to use it. Disposing of a diaper couldn't be easier...you just push in a diaper until it is between the clamps, close the lid, and turn the wheel a couple of times (We have found four to be the 'Magic' number.). I love how it 'sausages' the diapers into individual portions of the bag. It keeps in odors as well as anything. Let's face it...poop stinks. Any diaper disposal should be emptied at least two to three times a week, or it will become unbearable. Be advised, if you feed your baby anything other than breastmilk or formula, use the Stage Two bags!! Emptying it is a cinch...just turn the wheel an extra couple of times, push down the cutter button while turning the wheel a half turn, turn the wheel until the button pops up, open, and empty...EASY!! Unlike another reviewer, I see no way that you could reach the blades that cut the bag. They are covered for safety. (I tried every way I could think of before writing this just to be sure.) Another hint of something I have done is to apply restickable stickers to the Diaper Genie to match my daughter's nursery. We used ones you can peel and reuse. They add some 'glam' to an otherwise 'blah' diaper disposal. Overall, we love the Diaper Genie, if you can love a diaper disposal. :) It works great for us!!
wish I could give this 0 stars January 6, 2005 Joe'sMom (Ayer, MA) 222 out of 285 found this review helpful
Do not waste your money on the Diaper Genie. Even the "new and improved" Diaper Genie can't compare to the Diaper Champ. The Diaper Champ uses regular size trash bags where the Diaper Genie requires special refills. I can't speak for anyone else, but personally, the idea of having to constantly buy expensive refills for my diaper pail, when we already have trash bags in the house, is nuts. As for the "smell" issue. Let's face it - diapers stink. And regardless of brand, ANY diaper pail still needs to be emptied on a regular basis. As for the Diaper Genie vs the Diaper Champ, I have seen no difference in odor control between the two brands - both work pretty well to contain and control odor better than a regular trash barrel, but neither are odor proof.
Great Buy! August 11, 2004 LT (Midwest) 24 out of 31 found this review helpful
If you can't figure out how to use this, you'll be in for a real treat when your kids get older and they want toys that need assembly. This is the simpliest and greatest gift we received. Diapers stink! Diapers that sit in your house for days -REALLY Stink! If you don't empty the diaper pail frequently, you will smell the diapers. As for changing the liner, it isn't difficult either and the linears are available in most major chains including Target! If you use washable diapers - you're whole house stinks unless you do laudry 3 times a day. Most kids are only in diapers for about 2 years - it isn't that long. We have it far easier today than people did years ago. A friend of mine used the original Diaper Genie years ago and loved it. After using the one we have - I must agree -it definately makes a useful gift, purchase, for new parents.
The NEW version is great! August 1, 2004 Roseville Mom (Roseville, CA United States) 17 out of 20 found this review helpful
It appears many of the reviews here are for the OLD Diaper Genie. Please note: These are NOT the same products. As the owner of both the old and new Genies, let me tell you there is a BIG difference! We had to replace our older one because of a broken latch and bought the new version. The new one has improved all of the problems with the original. It is SO much easier to use! You now seal off the diaper using the top knob, instead of turning the inside ring. And the refill just drops right in -- no more hassle trying to get the ring inside the refill. Easy to empty when needed. Night and day difference. Don't be turned off by the reviews for the old product mistakenly posted here. Even I suggested people look at competing products when I had the old version. But the new one really has corrected the problems.
I Have 2 Words For You...Diaper Champ April 6, 2005 Renee (Ca) 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY.... There are only 2 reasons to buy the diaper genie...you like the smell of poo or you like wasting money for refills. As a nanny I dislike the Diaper Genie and I always will. Every home I have ever worked in has had this stinky, hard to use, smelly device. The only way I can see a parent liking it is if they change the bag after every use or have nanny who changes it so the parents don't know it stinks. When I was pregnant, instead of following the flock, I did my research. I went with the Diaper Champ. You use your own bags, it is as easy as throwing it into a regular trash can, and no smell! I cannot say enough good things about Diaper Champ. But don't take my word for it, do your research:)
