About Graco In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but had trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when an associate told him how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in a backyard glider swing. Acting on this inspiration, he went to the drawing board and 18 months of hard work later, the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic, was born. Graco sold millions of Swyngomatics in the coming years, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of juvenile products in the process. Today, Graco is a Newell Rubbermaid company, with 1500 associates worldwide. While a half-century has brought many changes to Graco, their dedication and commitment to designing and manufacturing top-quality products remains, and continues on. What's in the box Graco Infant SafeSeat, Step 1 (Ionic), stay-in-car base.

Good Investment! January 25, 2007 HUChickybaby (Washington, DC USA) 29 out of 29 found this review helpful
I absolutely recommend this infant seat! My son is almost 1 now and I am still using this seat. It is fabulous for it's fabric options of colors and most importantly for it's roominess. My son is on the chunky side, being an exclusively breastfed baby. He is still quite comfortable in this seat and I love being able to just attach him to the stroller as i walk my 4 year old into her her preschool. The travel system as a whole catches the eyes of many and I am always stopped by people saying.."what a ride!". Well it is, quite a ride. If you buy this car seat, it will last you for the entire FIRST YEAR of your baby's life. Thank you Graco!
the best infant car seat out there - period June 5, 2007 Athena (NJ) 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
For our first baby, we had a top-rated infant car seat made by Century. We did not like the fact that our baby was not leaning back properly and her head was always hanging to the front. Then we got the SnugRide as a hand-me down from a friend. It was ok, but outgrown too fast, so we lost the convenience of just taking her out of the car in the car seat instead of having to wake her up. LAst year we had our second baby and after using these two car seat for about a week (one on each car), my husband decided he hated them both and went and got this Safe Seat and two bases. Wow! What a difference. It is very comfortable. Our son fitted just right and seemed very comfortable. It is so easy to install and adjust. Our son is now 14 months, 31 inches long and 25 pounds and we are still happily using it... probably for another month when he reaches the limit. We are super happy with this purchase.
Great Carseat April 12, 2008 Kennon (Pittsburgh, PA) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
This is a great car seat. I recently bought this one, it is cute for a boy or girl. Travel. I took my child in a plane for travel I used the Graco car seat bag for the valet check, it worked great. I did not take the base with us and it fit safe and secure in the car using the seat belt. It was a little tricky since the belt strap has to go over the car seat, it was easy with two people one on each side it took less then a minute to secure. I also bought the Graco SnugRider Infant Car Seat Stroller Frame. They work great together. Just a couple problems. 1. If you put coffee in the cup holder and go over a bump it could spill on your child. 2. If you have a diaper bag you want to put on the bottom of the stroller, put it in before you put attach the car seat. Otherwise then that, it is fast to open and to travel with. Note about the base, it is easy to adjust. However, if you have a car with leather seats it is difficult to secure the base. With the use of a non slip rug mat between the seat and base along with a cut up noodle (yes the ones you use in the pool) it was secure. I learned this trick from a fireman who installed the car seat for my 2 year old. Working with a double stroller by BOB. I also recently bought a Bob Revolution stroller with car seat attachment. Some of the other carseats that work with the BOB stroller requires the back of the stroller to be adusted down (this would mean that everytime you open the stroller it would have be adjusted). I did not have to do this for this carseat, just pop it in and attach the strap and go. I am very pleased with my purchase.
It's roomy. . . August 22, 2007 R. Zamora (Chicago) 10 out of 15 found this review helpful
I bought this carseat because it was roomy for my son. However, the carseat was too big to take shopping or restaurants. When my son was a newborn and I went shopping the carseat could not fit on the cart. At restaurants it would not fit in the high chair because it was wide for it to lock in. Also, I am 5'2 it is a heavy item and with the baby it feels even worse. I do like it on how comfortable it is for my son, since i am a mom on the go, I do not recommend it.
Too heavy April 28, 2008 MHenry (KY USA) 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
We purchased this Graco seat for our second child after being very happy with another Graco infant seat for our first child over 6 years ago. It is considerably larger - length, width, and weight than the previous SafeSeat styles. Our baby fit in it well, but my husband and I both struggled with the weight of the combined baby and carseat by the time our son was 8 months old. Because of this, we switched over to a convertible seat at 9 months, making the extra $$ we paid for the large size worthless. Keep this in mind if you foresee carrying/transporting your baby around a lot. This is a very heavy car seat.
