Product Description Awesome 3D Effects Originally Seen in IMAX Theatres -- In this full-length, digitally animated 3D film--the first of its kind--the storyline begins with a group of aliens called Glagoliths steadfastly moving through the galaxy toward planet Earth in hope of establishing a new home for their people. -- When they unexpectedly land in the middle of "Adventure Planet," a new hi-tech amusement park not yet open to the public, they venture into the bowels of an underground Arabian palace fully loaded with dungeons and dragons, plunge into an underwater fantasy and come face to face with mechanical sea monsters and an all-too-real virtual shark! Rated G. 85 minutes. -- This film plays in 2D or 3D (requires a 3D viewing system) and is formattred for standard DVD players only.
Amazon.com Without question, 3-D technology has come a long way since the days of red and green cardboard glasses, and Alien Adventure offers ample proof. This roughly 30-minute feature--also available in The Ultimate 3-D Collection, which includes two other films and the H3D "i-glasses" hardware needed to generate the 3-D imaging--tells the story of alien pioneers inadvertently discovering Earth through a high-tech amusement park. The story is mindless, but the sense of depth conveyed here is quite convincing, especially during the many point-of-view sequences. The image and color resolution of the digital animation leaves much to be desired, however, proving unrewarding in 2-D. That said, certain sequences shine, most notably a lengthy slide through an arctic wonderland of vast nighttime icescapes and narrow roads through head-spinning chasms. The sound is well above average, enhancing the sense of real-life depth with seamless DTS surround mixes that work well even in headphones. --Michael Mikesell

I wish there were more 3D IMAX DVD titles but the 3D wont work with LCD Displays July 27, 2007 J. Dugan (USA) I wish there were more 3D IMAX DVD titles but the 3D wont work with LCD Displays! I have most of all the 3D IMAX DVD titles and the 3D LCD glasses, but there are several key 3D IMAX in theater titles there WERE NOT made available on DVD in 3D, why that makes no sense most notably, Journey of Man and many others. Sadly I no longer use a CRT type TV and like most people these days have a flat LCD HDTV and I also have a LCD DLP projector NEITHER OF WHICH work with the 3D LCD glasses! Since most people are now using LCD displays the maker of the 3D tech needs to find a way to make it work with LCD's somehow!
Engaging for kids, but adults too July 21, 2005 D. Grainer (Puyallup, WA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had viewed Alien Adventure on an HD channel I get and found it to be a total blast. I have no children and viewed it alone, but I know from expierence with nieces and a nephew that the younger set would enjoy watching the antics of the aliens visiting an unopened theme park and mistaking it for the way the whole planet earth is! The animation is top quality, but the sharpness and clarity usually found in animation films is not of the best quality on the disk. I did not view the 3-D version since I did not have the equipment to do so. (You will need more than a pair of 3-D glasses) The other con is it is way too short, only 33 minutes. I was eager for more and when viewed on TV it seemed longer. All in all, though, a treat for young and old.
A wonderful effort! July 11, 2005 Boggman! (Laguna Hills, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
O.k. look.....if you are watching or thinking of watching Alien Adventure in 2-D, you are really just wasting your time. This movie is enhanced 3Xfold by viewing it in 3d--and it is simply amazing! Alien Adventure is the funnest DVD I own (and I have 100's), simply because of its amazing 3d effects. Lights off, stereo sound cranked up, and with LCD glasses on, Alien Adventure is quite a crazy ride. Rollercoaster rides through the Arctic and Prehistoric times are simply spellbinding; as is also a GREAT trip through a child's bedroom filled with all sorts of toys, gadgets, and gizmos. The story is not the point of Alien Adventure (although it is a simple fun tale), as it is all about showcasing the latest in computer animated and digital 3D. A fantastic job all the way around! I can not wait for similar movies to be released!! These 3d short movies are the future of home entertainment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent in 2D July 4, 2005 Matthew J. Miller (Orlando, FL USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this DVD because it was listed as an IMAX title, but it is also 3D if you buy the special glasses from the manufacturer(regular 3D glasses dont work with this title). The quality of the graphics are terrific, the plot is a little strange, but basically its aliens who invade and ride 4 virtual roller coasters at a futuristic theme park. The rides are pretty good and the concept and setting behind each coaster is unique. My kids love this DVD, and its worth the price! (Buy it from the new & used section and you can get it for around $3.50 plus shipping)
