With apologies to Ulysses Everett McGill, I'm a Roots man. Nothing else will do.
I've been using it for probably fifteen years. To me, most men's colognes smell all too homogeneous. Sort of generically manly, in a cardboard cut-out kind of way.
Roots is not generic. It's sharp and earthy, yet rich at the same time. My wife loves it. Over the years, I've gotten more than a few compliments about it from other women (and men) as well. No complaints there. I've only had one person comment negatively about it; she thought it smelled of black pepper which, apparently, wasn't to her taste. Oh well.
Thankfully, my wife reacts to these compliments the same way she reacted to the compliments I got when I had nearly waist length, naturally curly hair: as a compliment to her good taste in men, rather than a challenge to her property rights.
No matter what, it's a great ego boost!

this was my signature scent for years. In all honesty its pretty amazing, it is a very earthy and pretty masculine scent. you WILL smell like the herb section of a Chinese apothecary. and people WILL notice. I used one little squirt a day and after not too long people started saying things like "it smells like Nick in here" I switched to a regular cologne becuase i was tired of smelling like a hippie, but i still use it from time to time as a room de-freshener i would have put fresh, but its more like making a room feel like you pulled it out of a mystical swamp, than a fresh field of daisies or something like that. anyway good smell, good price good produce, but use with caution.
