rip off December 11, 2006 Joey 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
I agree that Burts Bees products really do work and that it is good stuff, however it is a rip off I am a beekeeper my self and I make all of my own things just like Burts Bees, lip balm etc. It costs me 40 cents in materials and 1 dollar in time to make each one, and that is by hand, Why then should a company that mass produces the stuff sell it for four dollars or more, and only 97.99% natural, mine is 100% and cost $2.50 less each hand made I say to you find a fellow neghbor beekeeper and buy some from them

Not so natural anymore! OWNED BY CLOROX NOW! January 6, 2008 A parent (Michigan) 4 out of 14 found this review helpful
I love Burt's Bees lip balm, and diaper cream, and lots of their other products, and Burt's Bees used to be a good choice for people trying to make greener choices for themselves and the environment. Not so anymore. Burt's Bees has been bought by CLOROX. Yes, that's right, CLOROX. As usual a decent green company has been sucked up by a major polluter. You can read about it in the New York Times Business section by using your search engine with the terms "Burt's Bees", "Clorox", and "New York Times". Clorox says it wants to learn to be more green. Yeah, sure! They just want a piece of the pie when it comes to taking the money of green conscious consumers. You can bet that they won't be putting the word "Clorox" on the Burt's Bees label! I for one am tired of trying to buy green and ending up padding the wallets of great big polluting corporations. If you want to buy personal products that are better for you and the environment, try using your search engine to search for "Compact for Safe Cosmetics". You will find lists of companies that are the real thing, and not corporate wolves hiding behind a natural label. BYE BYE BURT, WE LOVED YOU!
Neat Natural Products March 22, 2007 C. M. Ellett (Huntsville, AL) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought one of these from a local herb store. I really enjoy all of the products in it, and find them to be effective. I had difficulty using the shampoo bar at first (I have really long and thick hair), but after I got a better idea of how to use a bar on my hair, I am really satisfied with how it cleans my hair without leaving it dry. I was very happy to find these all-natural products, but I agree with the previous reviewers that the products do seem expensive. I wish that there were more economical natural products. However, though I hate to say this, I think Burt's Bees products are worth the price for the good quality of their unique items. However, if you're looking for just natural soap and lip balm with nothing fancy, there are some less expensive alternatives around. I recommend Pears soap.
