Amazon.com Product Description The SPECO CVC-346BCA B/W Miniature Weatherproof Ball Camera with Audio is great for almost any outdoor application. Protected by a durable weatherproof ball-shaped housing, this camera sits in a socket-style joint that allows it to adjust to virtually any angle and includes a built-in microphone for audio. Designed to provide a high resolution picture even in extremely low-light conditions, the SPECO CVC-346BCA is a great addition to any video surveillance system, especially in applications subject to inclement weather. This ball camera utilizes a 0.33-inch black-and-white CCD (charge-coupled device) image sensor with a 3.6-millimeter lens (other lenses optional), and provides 512-by-492 effective pixels. The CVC-346BCA has a high horizontal resolution of 350 TVL (TV lines) in color and 420 TVL in black-and-white. This unit is also excellent at very low-light levels with a minimum illumination of one Lux in color and 0.02 Lux in B/W, and achieves a S/N (signal-to-noise) ratio of 48 dB or better. The SPECO CVC-346BCA operates on the EIA (Electronics Industries Association) scanning system, and includes a standard BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) video output. This unit is constructed in an ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) plastic housing, runs on 12-volts DC power, and can operate in temperatures ranging from -14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. The CVC-346BCA comes complete with a built-in automatic electronic shutter with speeds ranging from 1/60 to 1/100,000 of a second. Technical Features: - S/N ratio: better than 48 dB
- Sensitivity: minimum illumination of 1 Lux in color and 0.02 Lux in B/W
- Effective pixels: 512 by 492 pixels
- Horizontal resolution: 350 TVL in color, 420 TVL in B/W
- Operating temperatures: -14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit
- Dimensions: approximately 3 x 4 inches (diameter x depth)
The SPECO CVC-346BCA camera provides you with a high-quality color picture from a versatile camera, and deserves serious consideration as an addition to your home or business security system. The CVC-346BCA comes completely assembled and ready to use, and includes all the necessary mounting hardware to place it virtually anywhere. Users should note that the CCD sensor may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the camera should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources. About Surveillance Camera Technical Features Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.
