Amazon.com Product Description The Lorex SG4915 0.33-inch CCD B/W Weatherproof Bullet Camera is a high-quality and reliable camera designed for use in virtually any situation. Ideal in both indoor and outdoor environments, this unit is protected by a weatherproof aluminum housing. With good light sensitivity and good resolution, the Lorex SG4915's small size lends itself to discreet applications and is suitable to most any situation requiring 24-hour monitoring--especially in areas that are openly exposed to inclement weather. This bullet camera utilizes a 0.33-inch black-and-white CCD (charge-coupled device) image sensor with up to 512 by 492 effective picture elements. Built with a 3.6-millimeter fixed lens, the SG4915 has a high resolution of 400 horizontal TVL (TV lines). For use during the day, evening, and in low-light conditions, the SG4915 has a minimum illumination of 0.1 Lux. The included RCA connector allows this camera to easily connect to any standard TV or VCR, while the RCA-to-six-pin coupler lets you connect to any Lorex Intell-alert observation system. The SG4915 features a built-in electronic automatic shutter with a speed ranging from 1/60 to 1/100,000 of a second. This unit runs on 12-volt DC power, and has an operating temperature of 14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Technical Features: - Sensitivity: 0.1 Lux in B/W
- Effective pixels: up to 512 x 492
- Lens: 3.6-millimeter fixed
- Horizontal resolution: 400 TVL
- Dimensions: 1 inch (diameter) x 2.125 inches (depth)
- Operating temperatures: 14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit
Designed for use under trying circumstances, the Lorex SG4915 camera deserves serious consideration as a great addition to any surveillance system subjected to harsh environmental conditions. Quick and easy to install with a standard BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman, RF-type) to RCA connector, this Lorex camera comes completely assembled and includes a 65-foot cable that allows you to place it almost anywhere. Users should note that the CCD sensor may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the camera should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources. About Surveillance Camera Technical Features Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient. What's in the Box SG4915 camera, mounting bracket, power adapter, power cable (65 feet), RCA/BNC connector, video extension cable (65 feet), RCA/RCA connector, RCA/6-pin coupler, and owner's manual.

Good daytime camera February 12, 2007 Tim (Washington State) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It's not a .1 lux camera as Amazon states. Lorex says it's a 1 lux camera, but good lux seeing anything when it's that dark. Used indoors or in daylight it does a very good job and it's nice and small so you can put it pretty much anywhere.
