Also eliminated are 175.25 square inches of PVC blisters, 3.5 square inches of ABS molded styrene, and two molded plastic fasteners. This item ships in its own box, without the need for an additional shipping box.
Adventures on the high seas abound with the Fisher Price Imaginext Adventures Pirate Ship. Designed for children ages three and older, the pirate ship comes complete with its own pirates, treasure, and more -- ready to sail where your child's imagination takes it! Plenty of Imaginative Action The pirates have plenty to do, thanks to special "action points" all over the ship. Your child can simply place a pirate on one of the ship's five special areas, turn the figure, and watch the action! The pirates can lower the ship's sails, drop the anchor, and fire the three hidden cannons. Two pirates can even fight a duel, and the captain can extend the plank for some unlucky soul to walk. Built Tough for Adventurous Journeys Like all Fisher Price toys, the Adventures Pirate Ship is built tough, with larger pieces that are easier and safer for little hands to manipulate. It includes three pirates with interchangeable hats and swords, a treasure map, treasure chest filled with treasure, and a cannon that really works. Additional accessories are sold separately. Your child will have hours of fun entering an imaginary world of adventure. However, pirates should use this ship on an imaginary sea only -- it's not built for use in real water. The pirate ship measures about 19 by 7.5 by 18.5 inches. It does not require any batteries. What's in the Box Pirate ship, 2 pirates with interchangeable hats and swords, and treasure chest with treasure.

Lots of fun, and very durable October 31, 2008 James Huff (Los Angeles, CA United States) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
We bought this pirate ship in October 2007, and haven't had any of the problems with it coming apart that some earlier reviewers mentioned. (Perhaps the 2007 version is improved?) We're actually very happy with this toy--it is very well designed, with just the right balance between functionality and durability. There are lots of things to do (raise/lower the sails, the anchor, fire the canons three different ways, etc.), and everything works well and holds up to the normal amount of abuse that a four-year-old and his 2-year-old brother can dish out. One of our kids' favorite toys, and one of ours as well.
My daughter loves it! October 31, 2008 Rebecca Burke 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
My 3 year old daughter really loves pirates (think Wiggle's Captain Feathersword). When she got this for her 3rd birthday, I was not happy - she was supposed to be getting the Little Tykes version. She absolutly loves it, as does my 5 year old son, and our 40ish year old neighbors and their teenage girls! The only downside is there are lots of small accessories that can easily be lost. Other than that, this is really neat!
Entertains for long stretches of time October 31, 2008 C. Venturi 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
PROS: My son, who is 4 1/2 years old likes the toy very well. He will play with it for long stretches (about 30 - 45 minutes) at a time. It has many parts he can move; cannons, anchor, sails, plank, open and close the the hold of the ship. Characters each have a sword or scimitar. The turtle is big. Shp is a nice large size. So far it seems very durable, have not had problems with it falling apart. CONS: 1.The hold where the cannons are stowed, will not close if one of the figures in "manning the cannons" and my son would get frustrated. I resolved by telling my son that in ships the hold must remain open when people are in. He seemed satisfied. 2. the cannon balls look extremely dangerous to me, so I just threw them away. They are marble sized balls with a long extension. They are meant to shoot out of the cannons. I have younger kids and these cannon balls look too much like lolly-pops. 3. Sometimes the figures are a little unstable if not pushed in well on the specially designed platforms and they they fall off, but eventually he learned to push them in well.
Glue Would Help October 31, 2008 Mrs Mike 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this for my son's 4th birthday this year. While he really enjoys playing with it, he get frustrated that it falls apart VERY easily. My husband finally glued the hull of the ship together (leaving everything else to be able to pull apart) and that did the trick. This is a good step up from the Little People pirate ship.
Fantastic Toy but SEXIST!! December 4, 2008 Heather L. Fairfield (Canton, MA United States) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Before I begin, I want to make one thing clear to anyone who is reading these reviews BEFORE buying the Pirate Ship ... As far as I can tell, the reviews that refer to the ship coming apart are referring to an earlier version of this ship, which was modular and allowed for the middle section to be removed. (The Imaginext line originally involved playsets that were very modular in design, and were meant to come apart and be reconfigured according to the child's whim. Problem was that a lot of sets sort of ... unconfigured themselves ... at inopportune moments while the kids were playing. Needless to say, the wee ones were NOT amused by toys that kept falling apart as they were playing with them, so the product line was reworked in the last few years.) That being said ... My parents bought the pirate ship for my daughter for her 4th birthday. Not only did it stand up to her playing with it, it also completely withstood the enthusiasm of a couple of hyperkinetic 8 year old boys jacked up on way too much fruit juice and cake. Point being, it's pretty durable!!!!!!!!!! Yes, there are pieces (ornamental) on the ship that can be removed, but we have never had those pieces fall off on their own. All in all, it's a fantastic toy that was well worth the money for the durability and enjoyment my daughter has gotten out of it thus far. In fairness however, I should point out the biggest CON of the playset. Namely that there is a STUNNING and DISTURBING lack of even a single female character not only in this playset, but in the entire Imaginext line ... a point that I have taken up with their corporate office (and I would wholeheartedly encourage others to do the same if this blatant sexism bothers you too -- the only way we'll get them to change this is if enough people let them know how much we object). The real pity is that my daughter has ended up supplementing with female figures from other playsets (none of which were Fisher Price). Fisher Price really dropped the ball here. Not only did they blatantly and chauvinistically fashion this toy only for boys, they missed out on money that could have been theirs. Even if the inclusion of female characters came as a supplemental pack of figures, it's the LEAST they could have done to include the other half of the child population. No offense to the bigwigs at Fisher Price, but boys aren't the ONLY ones who think that pirates (or castles, or superheroes, etc. etc.) are cool. Although my daughter definitely lamented the lack of a female characters (she kept asking me, "But Mommy, where's the GIRL pirate??"), she does love the set and is extremely happy that she got it as a gift. I would rate this toy extremely high, but would caution the parents of girls to consider the psychological ramifications of introducing their daughters to an entire line of toys where there are NO female characters whatsoever, and the feminine sex is relegated to complete oblivion. (Apparently, parents have been complaining about this fact to Fisher Price for over three years now with no results ... so SPEAK UP if you've been silent on this issue!! The more parents who voice their objection, the less likely they'll be to leave our daughters out in the future.)
