Product Description The most compact, full size tripod in the Manfrotto range - the 715SHB DIGI MICRO is a four-section tripod with an integral ball head with micro "dovetail" quick release plate. The ball mechanism retracts into the main shoulder casting for an even shorter folded length in transport. The leg pivot uses a unique single hinge design in aluminum, which both keeps the cross section smaller and allows the leg to fold shorter than conventional tripods. The built-in ball head allows you to adjust and set its friction so that it balances the weight of your camera without needing to lock and unlock between positions. All you have to do is point the camera and shoot. Adjustment is via a handle found on the bottom of the column; set it for your camera and forget it! If you prefer to lock the head for extra security, just turn the handle one more time. Despite the reduced size, there's been no compromise on stability. Head movements: pan 360? / tilt +90? -90?.

Compact, well-built, good value January 24, 2007 M. Baltes (Madison, WI) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
In searching for a camera tripod, I had just a few criteria. It had to be lightweight, adjustable in size, and pretty small when collapsed. This tripod would be used for posed family pictures, as well as outdoor photography on motorcycle trips. The 715SHB is the best fit that I could find. I use a Canon S3IS, which makes a good package with this tripod. It folds down small enough to fit in my cycle tank bag with room to spare. The legs can adapt to any terrain, and the adjustable head is great for fine tuning your setup. The center post can be turned upside down to allow great closeups of smaller objects. Now the negatives. The legs take a little long to set up. I saw on a few other tripods a twist lock type leg, which is faster. However, the difference is about 30 seconds, not long enough to be a major problem, just a minor concern. The other thing to keep in mind is that this tripod is not designed to support a large, SLR type camera, especially with long lenses attached. This is not a problem for me with my camera, just something I felt I should mention. Overall, a nice tripod that fits my needs very well.
Excellent tripod! March 15, 2008 Tribble (Stillwater, MN United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have a great full-size tripod (Manfrotto 3001D) but needed something smaller for travel. I have a 400D w/battery grip and my longest lens is the Canon 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS. Even though this tripod is not rated for such a heavy combination, it is barely up to the task. When fully loaded with my 70-300 I have to crank the ball head pretty tight, and it seems a bit precarious, but it is able to support the weight. With a smaller lens like my Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 I'm not nervous at all. Of course it isn't rock solid like my 3001D, but I didn't expect it to be. Also, the carry case is great and even fits my 3001D if I have the head stick out. Highly recommended.
Excellent compact tripod for small cameras October 31, 2007 Loraine Arnold 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This tripod is very well made, sturdy and easy to setup. The small size makes it great for carrying in a backpack. It works very well for small compact digital cameras. The ballhead does not need tightening every time you position it which is a handy feature. It has the quality I expected from Bogen.
