Product Description Underwater photos will be brighter and more vibrant with SeaLife's fully automatic Sl960 External Flash system. Take magazine-quality underwater photos from 2 to 8 ft. SeaLife's external flash unit provides additional light for brighter underwater pictures with more vivid colors. With a flexible arm extending the flash unit over the camera, SeaLife has developed a unit that allows divers to aim the flash at most any angle. SeaLife's External Flash is positioned 12 inches away from the camera's lens, and a deflector covers the camera's built-in flash, to reduce annoying backscatter - small particles in the water that reflect light and cause white spots to appear in the picture. The flexible arm allows easy aiming at any angle, and is rubber armored to provide a sure grip. This External Flash is designed for all SeaLife film and digital camera models. For a complete compatibility list please refer to the original manufacturer's web site.
Amazon.com Product Description Mounting on all SeaLife cameras equipped with an external flash mount, the SeaLife External Flash is a boon to underwater photographers. The rubberized body of the flash provides a sure grip, and a flexible arm allows the flash to be aimed easily at whatever object or scene needs to be illuminated. The flash cover helps alleviate backscatter, which causes white spots to appear on pictures, or, if more illumination is needed, the flash cover can be removed.

Do you need the External Flash? August 1, 2000 Gene Case (Milwaukee WI) 14 out of 37 found this review helpful
Hello, I have used many different types of cameras through the years of my diving career and have found the cheaper cameras to be very limited in the ability to take good pictures. No matter what camera you choice, you MUST use an external flash. If you are a certified scuba diver you already know the reason for this. YOU should know, it's part of your training. This flash unit puts out just enough light for the intented purpose of the line of Reefmaster cameras. I would recommend renting a camera system before purchasing; make sure this camera system and flash unit meet your expectations.
Better than nothing May 28, 2008 Brian Bussey (MTN VIEW CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The SL960 IMO was designed for the 35mm film camera specifically in the SL950 set but willwork more easily with other SeaLife Cameras than with non-SeaLife cameras (be it digital or film). With that being said, I use the SL960 with my Canon A570is. I must use the Flashlink (SL962) in order to get the flash to sync plus my A570 will only sync in MANUAL MODE, no other. I find 1/250 sec at f4-5.6 to be fine. A diffuser is a must. Currently, I use Coffee filters (don't laugh, they work) but I'm thinking of buying the one SeaLife makes for this flash. The SL960's intensity CAN'T be adjusted like the SL960D so Macros are out of the question unless you do some serious Flash Bounce or some other type of Camera Wizardry . If I could afford a more expensive flash, sure I'd buy one, but for now the SL960 is one of the least expensive Flashes out there AND it produces the results I'm looking for, albeit not professional but definitely BETTER THAN NOTHING!! P.S.!!! It may not work with all Cameras!!! I bought a Fuji E900 and I can't get it to sync even with the Flashlink Cable. I would assume the other Canon A-Series would work but I can't guarantee it.
