Product Description
The 055XPROB makes the famous Manfrotto-patented horizontal centre column feature even easier to use. By extending the column to its highest vertical position, it can be swung round to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself, so switching between framing and positioning setups is more convenient than ever. The ergonomics of the leg angle release mechanism and the quick action leg locks themselves have also been greatly improved.

055XPROB was 3021BPRO, a great tripod September 13, 2007 Chun Li (Anywhere, USA) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Added on 10/21/2007: I posted the review below under the product 055XPROB (and it got 5 helpful votes), but amazon mistakenly moved it to 055XB (and since then it got 2 unhelpful votes). Anyway, 055XB should be a very good tripod. But I encourage you to compare it with 055XPROB, which is just a little more expensive. Original review: It is a great, sturdy tripod. The only down side is it is a little heavy. But this is what you pay for being sturdy. Bogen/Manfrotto has changed the SKU# from 3021BPRO to 055XPROB. Look at the glowing reviews on the 3021BPRO to convince yourself.
great tripod legs February 13, 2008 Miguel Espino (Torreon, Coahuila MX.) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This tripod legs are great: sturdy, versitile and very steady; but please note that for a $ 10.00 more the 055XB Classic can be 055XPROB you can pull out the center post to slide into a horizontal position, but even without the tripod legs works great as should be. It's a little heavier and has plastic parts that I would like to be more stronger and not plastic.
My starter "real" tripod January 9, 2008 A. Saunders (Virginia, USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
don't have much to compare this to, except for a $30 sunpak tripod I got from best buy. This guy's expensive, especially since the head is separate, but I love this thing. It's moderate in weight (we'll see if I have to carry it far, but feels very solid. The latches are convenient, I prefer them to knobs -- we'll have to see if they remain the same tightness over time. The vertical mount is very easy to adjust (compared to my cheapo tripod that I had to CRANK to adjust). The whole unit can get quite tall, and quite low. The default setup is a convenient height. I love the Manfrotto 222 Joystick head I got with it -- the whole unit together feels amazingly solid! Pricey (not by photography standards (it's not too expensive), just by normal human being standards), but cool.
