Product Description
Giotto's Pro II mini ball head features a light ball with a hollowed structure designed and manufactured to precisely position the camera both easily and securely. Pro II features a slim and light body structure yet it is hardness strengthened with heavily anodized aluminum. The mini features one large control knob that locks down all movement of the ball. The mini measures slightly over one inch in diameter, and is designed to support up to 7 lbs.

4 out of 5 stars Perfect for DSLR-monopod combination   October 30, 2007

I use this to mount my Nikon D40x on a Giottos MM9780 monopod. Lightweight and well made. The tension on the ball head is adjustable enough that you can steady your camera but still move it around to frame the shot. It can easily tighten down enough to hold the camera rigid. It is not very tall, so with the tripod straight up and down a vertical shot is not possible (the base of the camera hits the flat top of the monopod). This isn't a problem for me because I don't use the monopod straight up and down, I tilt it and brace it against my leg or hip. No quick release, but very good for the price.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad for the price   January 12, 2008

A nice little mount for a monopod. It is compact enough (it adds about 2" to the height of the monopod), very light and appears well made. But this is a basic ball/swivel and leaves me wanting something more, but for the price it cannot be beat. I am an amatuer photographer and this head will probably be good enough for a few years so I really do not have any complaints.

This item is exactly what one needs to tilt one's camera sideways to take a portrait photo using a monopod. It is well made and inexpensive. Most of the other ones on the market cost twice as much as the twenty dollar hiking staff monopod that you are going to use it on.

4 out of 5 stars virtually perfect   February 8, 2008
snapping hobby
fully meets my expectations
3 modifications would make it perfect
1-extend the side knob about a 1/4 inch to make it easier to turn ... unless one has small fingers and thumbs
2-add little bumps or teeth to bottom surface that mates with tripod to eliminate potential to rotate on tripod's pad if it is not very securely tightened to the pad >> don't want to turn it tooooo tight
3-make top thread/screw that fastens to the bottom of the camera about an 1/8 inch longer >> this screw could then have more threads engaged and perhaps to bottom-out inside the camera then turn to "lock" the wheel with cork pad against the bottom of the camera ... this would be more secure attachment

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
