Really a lot easier than burning DVDs! July 9, 2006 Alan E. Moore (Sanford, FL) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I bought this cable after getting frustrated burning DVDs of Survivor episodes that I had downloaded. I simply converted the episodes and copied to my Zen Vision, plug the cable into my tv and Voila, Survivor heaven! The quality was surprisingly good, actually better than the DVD I burnt fromt he same files, I highly recommend this as a good way to watch those movie/tv downloads on a bigger screen :P
need the special cable May 19, 2006 Epsilon Delta (CA USA) 17 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have checked that this cable is the official one made by Creative. Also, I went and tried the iPod cable as well as the A/V cable made for camcorders -- both of those won't work. So this special cable is needed. And if you really need to make it work before you can get a hold of the cable, see the discussion below for my posting.
Just OK March 2, 2007 Jason Warnick (Seattle) 8 out of 12 found this review helpful
I agree with the other reviewer that commented about the cables needing instructions. The cable arrives without any, and doing the intuitive thing... plugging in one end to your Zen:M headphone jack and the other into the TV doesn't work. Well, here's the answer for the other non-techies like me. Use the base connector that you normally use to connect your Zen:M to a computer. The end of the video cable goes into that connector. Using the headphone jack doesn't work. As to video quality -- I was trying to use this to port my Unbox videos to my big screen television. It works... but just ok. Video quality is a 4 (out of 10) at best, and same for the sound. I haven't used it for photos or home video, so it may be different/better.. and in fact based on the other reviewers, that's probably the case.
Works great with a little guidance May 15, 2007 M. Morrill (Whidbey Island, WA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Like others have mentioned, this cable came with no instructions, and I plugged it into the headphone jack of my Zen and had only audio going to my TV, no video. Not the savviest tech, I thought maybe I had the files in the wrong folder or my settings needed tweeking, but when those checked good I figured I'd check the reviews here to see if anyone else mentions the problem. Sure enough, I got my answer - you have to plug in the "headphone" jack to the bottom of the Zen through the adapter used for charging. Duh, right? Well now I know. After that - the cable works as advertised and has a great picture on my TV. This will be very useful as a portable dvd player while travelling. Thanks for the help.
Great Cable at a decent price November 5, 2006 R. DeNardis (Pittsburgh) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Unlike many other cables that splice A/V output, this cable does so while retaining the details of that output. I.e., both Left and Right channels are extracted and outputted, not simply the Left channel with audio mixed down to mono. Also, it works on some computers, too! On the minus side, I haven't gotten it to work on the television. In order to do so, you also have to buy the adapter for the Creative Zen player. I bought this so my Creative Sleek Photo would be compatible with an X-Rocker chair with built in speakers, and found that CD players and many other audio units became compatible, too. For that, it was worth the cost.
