love going underwater, not a fan of the optics September 8, 2007 B. Curry (Lima, Peru) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I purchased this camera to head out into the ocean and take pictures of friends surfing and the occasional underwater shot. Why did I choose this camera over the other water-proof cameras out there? Because you can take it more than 3 m (10 ft) below the surface without having to worry about it flooding. Its great to know that I can head down past the 20 m (75 ft) and shoot, if I want to go that low. The others just don't provide that option. As for the fact that it is shock-resistant, that sounds great but I've not dropped it yet to try that feature out (and hope to never truly test it). What I'm not such a big fan of is the quality of pictures that it takes - especially when you zoom in or crop. The zoom is a digital zoom which means you sacrifice some picture quality as it zooms. The optics of the front lens tend to really blur out the details when you zoom in and this camera shouldn't be used if you plan to crop and resize your photos. As a pure P&S camera, its below average in terms of picture quality. Where this camera makes up for it is the fact that it truly is water-proof and that reason alone brings it up to an average rating (3 stars) for me.
Under water digital camera May 17, 2007 C. Gerdes (St. Peters, MO United States) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Love this camera! Went on a cruise three days after I recieved the camera so I didn't have a lot of time to practice with the under water features so I generally used all the default setting. Very easy to use and takes great pictures above water and under water. I did a lot of research on the net prior to buying the camera and read a lot of great stuff on this so I thought I'd try it, glad I did!
Perfect for kayakers, canoers, and fishing June 25, 2007 R. Lancaster (Texas) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I love this camera! I have already gotten it wet and dropped it in the sand. I washed it off in the lake and kept on going. I attached the hand strap and then a float to it. If I drop it - it floats and I can paddle over to it! To access the batteries and memory card, you have to push a switch with one hand and flip a lever with another. This thing is NOT going to come open unless you want it to! Adorama Camera is the best by far! They really treat you well, so buy from the through Amazon.
Nice waterproof and shockproof camera August 23, 2007 ohle (Cambridge, MA USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I really like the Sealife ECOshot. This camera met the description and my first pictures came out nicely. Of course it has only digital zoom so for non-water-related pictures in safe surrounding ;-) I still prefer a camera with optical zoom but to be honest I was surprised by the good quality of even these pictures. In general I think it's just great not to have to worry about water or what you might bang the thing on when you're for example kayaking.
Sealife ECOshot a great underwater camera September 19, 2007 Robert D. Cunningham (Gallatin Gateway, MT USA) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
The Sealife ECOshot underwater camera is an inexpensive, quality item ideal for the casual recreationist, snorkler or scuba diver. Rugged, simple, and durable, the ECOshot works flawlessly in most underwater situations. Somewhat limited view/range, but quality photos and good color.
