Product Description When Gitzo launched the Mountaineer tripods in 1994, they were the World's first carbon fiber tripods. Ever since then they've set the standard for performance and quality. The main feature of the range is the new 6X carbon fiber tube, made of a unique structure of 6 crossed layers that maximizes rigidity, vibration absorption and lightweight performance. 6X tube has a high density structure made of top quality ultra-thin carbon fibers. Built-in Anti Leg Rotation is a feature of the whole carbon fiber range. Mountaineer tripods have been further improved with features and details that increase performance, versatility and quality.G-Lock is leg locking system that increases system rigidity by 20% and allows quicker and stronger leg locking. This added a solid machined aluminum upper disc with a Safe Lock material that cuts vibration and improves grip between tripod and head. The upper disc can also be fitted directly to the upper casting, removing the center column for ground level photography or to save weight.

5 Star Gitzo April 20, 2008 E. Sander (near St Louis, Mo) I am not new to Gitzo. It is professional grade equipment and the reason for my purchase.
Solid support with Eligant Design May 12, 2008 A. M. Rosa (Woodside, New York USA) Gitzo tripods are a cut above. They provide excellent support and are incredibly simple and easy to use. The best analogy I can think of is that of Tiger Woods compared to the rest of the PGA. They are all really good, but Tiger is just that much better, especially when the conditions aren't ideal. The same can be said for the Gitzo. The 3 series and above are going to have some weight to them, so if you are travelling or hiking, you may want to consider the Gitzo Travler or a 2 series. For the serious photographer and the up an coming amateur or professional, get the Gitzo. It is going to last you a long time and you won't feel like you didn't get your money's worth years later.
Gitzo GT3530 Tripod June 9, 2008 Ernest J. Aranyosi (Akron, OH) I order this tripod 3 days before my vacation and had it drop shipped to my destination in Florida. It arrived on the day it was promised and in perfect condition. Although the ad said reconditioned, I would swear this is a NEW Gitzo tripod. It easily handles my Nikon D3 with a 400 2.8 lens mounted on it. Worth every penny. Thanks for the great service.
