Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Carson's unique SuperZoom compact binocular allows you to view at 20x magnification and then zoom-in for pinpoint accuracy to 80x power, without ever losing sight of you object. The Z-80 Superzoom has high performance prisms and fully coated lenses that provide exceptionally sharp, high-contrast images.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing   June 21, 2004

Bought this binoculars hoping Carson had come with an inexpensive solution to provide high quality zoom in binoculars. I was completely dissapointed when I got My Z80. The image was fuzzy and when I used the zoom at its maximum, the image was impossible to focus and really dark. I returned the item to Amazon.
The Binoculars look great from the exterior, but really do not live up to the expectations.

Beside, I found out that a 20X magnification is a lot, not really that necessary, not to say a 80X.

Should try other less powerful models with better optics.

4 out of 5 stars good binoculars   November 1, 2004

I purchased this binocular and knew before that when viewing something with small binoculars at very high mag you will get a dimmer image with some shaking if hand held. The unit is well put together and fun to use. Just at high mag you will have a better image in daylight. Highly recommended keeping the above in mind.

3 out of 5 stars Not too impressed   July 15, 2006

While the zoom is great, the main problem is that a lot of light is required to see the image at x40 upto x80. Also, at these zoom levels, you really need a tripod as every little shake does affect the viewing very bad. So while it's great for sports when you are sitting in the nose bleed seats, it's not easy to get the tripod into the stadium.

2 out of 5 stars Tripod a must!   July 25, 2007

Nice quality binocs but... With magnification this high the movement is also magnified extremely as well. Anything over the base power requires a tripod which takes away from the portability. A 25mm objective lense with this high of a magnification is like looking through a straw; NO field of view. If you want this much zoom, stick with a spotting scope (still need a tripod).

3 out of 5 stars Good but not good with zoom   September 19, 2007

This is good binocular but donot use for the zoom. Zoom is not good. It is enough powerful with 20x.
