Amazon.com Product Description Digital cameras and mobile phones have changed the rules about taking photos. Now, the SELPHY DS810 Compact Photo Printer changes everything about how and where to print them. It's only about 9" x 9" x 4," much smaller than typical printers. It doesn't have to be connected to your computer, so you can keep it in almost any room and print beautiful photos from there. It features Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE), which uses an innovative print head with nozzles that eject consistent, precise ink droplets as small as two picoliters. This patented technology produces an outstanding resolution of up to 4,800 x 1,200 dpi, for exceptional detail and photo realism. You won't have to wait long; it can print a beautiful photo lab quality 4" x 6" photograph in about 63 seconds--directly from your PictBridge enabled camera. So, you have family and friends over, and everybody's taking pictures, even with their mobile phones. Why wait until tomorrow--or next week--to see everyone's images? Just put this user-friendly printer in a central place in your den or living room. Its built-in card slots let anyone print from their compatible memory cards, or they can print directly from their PictBridge compatible digital camera or DV camcorder. You and your guests can even print photos from an infrared-enabled mobile phone: just shoot, point your phone and print! Plus, using the large, built-in 2.5" LCD color viewer and control panel you can fine tune your images before printing, for better results. With its small size and easy connectivity, the SELPHY DS810 Compact Photo Printer is the new way to view, print and share your photos. The Canon ChromaLife100 system combines the Selphy DS810 Compact Photo Printer's FINE print head technology and newly developed inks with select Canon photo papers, with results rivaling that of many conventional photos. These beautiful photos will also last up to 100 years when stored in an archival quality photo album. What's in the Box: SELPHY DS810 Compact Photo Printer, FINE cartridges: BCI-16CL color, power cord, document kit

Small, easy to set up, prints colorful pictures. Great Value December 29, 2005 L. Cox (Military mom, overseas.) 69 out of 73 found this review helpful
I bought this photo printer after researching several on the internet before Christmas. We are a military family stationed in a rural overseas area and needed just a printer I could use to send 4 X 6 (and smaller) family pictures to the states and elsewhere. That was my main reason for buying a photo printer. I looked at several other makes. My requirements were: Something compatible and easy to set up as we run both Mac and PC platforms in my family. Did not want to have to buy the proprietary 'ink and paper' route. Wanted at least an option of getting generic ink if I wanted to do that. And wanted small as already have an overcrowded desk. Bought this and am very happy. Easy to set up with Mac (I run Mac OS X 10.4.3). Have not tried it on the PC yet but I am sure that will go smooth also. No problems at all in set up. Prints beautiful pictures on either Epson or Canon glossy but I would not use anything else. A Kodak paper I had which state it suited Canon printers brought terrible results. It is amazing the quality I can get from just three inks. I cannot imagine anyone but the pickiest of people being unhappy with these prints. Everything I have printed has been from the computer. Nothing via camera yet. I had heard the quality was a little less that way but for me this is the usual way I print. Cartridges are not too expensive either. 75 prints from each and really almost just as cheap as anything generic. I would heartily recommend this printer to anyone looking at photo printers. I did see some negative comments on a few other photo review sites but to me unfounded. Look around for good deals, I got this for $84 with a $15 dollar off coupon. Great value for money.
Was printing OK...then died!! November 19, 2005 E. Davis (California) 57 out of 101 found this review helpful
I purchased this printer last week, I have about 200 pictures to print from a family vacation. I was able to print about 100 pictures, for the price of the printer, the pictures were not half bad!! I needed to purchase new cartridges. Let the printer sit for a few days and then put in the new cartridge. I went to turn the printer on a few hours later and nothing!! I then plugged and unplugged it a few time and finally the light on the on/off button started to blink, but nothing...the screen was blank and no movement. I hit a bunch of buttons..still nothing. I unplugged it again for few minutes, plugged it back in...no blinking lights...nada!! My poor little printer was DEAD!! The moral of the story...it lasts for 100 prints.
Cool package, nice price. November 10, 2006 C. M. Juenker (Colchester, VT United States) 40 out of 44 found this review helpful
For a dedicated photo printer, I enjoy the ease of getting prints with the Canon software interface. This little number produces nice output. Consumables deplete rapidly but they don't scare you at the register. Ink tanks can be had for under $10. Some trouble with white edges on borderless prints, but power cycling seems to solve it. Paper tray leaves sheets hanging out in front where they are in the way. I use this printer to get quick snaps for fun and transmit or take my serious stuff to the photo finisher for prints. That said I'm happy enough with this purchase as it fits my need without regrets.
Easy to use, but use the ink quickly December 10, 2006 Daniel G. Lebryk 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
This is a very easy to use printer, creates very nice 4x6 prints directly from memory cartridges. The screen is a bit small, but works. Printing is very quiet, and reasonably rapid. Printer supplies are very reasonable. A single tank, couldn't be easier than that. The styling is a bit long in the tooth today, but at this price, it's a great deal. One warning, and it's clearly stated in the owner's manual, you must use the ink within 6 months of opening the cartridge. If you leave the ink in for longer, prints will be totally messed up. So, use the ink, make prints!!
Canon Selphy DS810 photo printer January 7, 2006 G. Robbins (Santa Rosa, CA USA) 26 out of 37 found this review helpful
I replaced my old HP photo printer for this one. The buttons on the HP Printer were becoming difficult to make it work. The Canon Selphy printer was horrible. The quality of the prints didn't even come close to the HP quality. I could only print 15 photos before the cartridge became clogged and had to call tech support which didn't solve my problem. I returned the printer and will purchase an HP printer again. I don't recommend this product to anyone.
