How many pictures will it store? November 5, 2004 Brent D. Payne (Chicago, IL) 36 out of 37 found this review helpful
How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries. The SimpleTech STI-SD/256 256MB SecureDigital Card SD, like most 256MB cards, will store on average 284 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 213 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 128 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 102 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 80 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera. I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.
Good deal. July 31, 2003 Rheumor (New Orelans) 32 out of 41 found this review helpful
For a long time, MultiMediaCards (MMCs) were a tough sell against other formats such as CompactFlash & SmartMedia (and lately vs Sony Memory Sticks too), largely because they were offered in smaller memory capacities and always had a higher cost-per-meg than those formats. Now the SimpleTech SD card (interchangeable with MMC cards), a format which has some distinct advantages over the other formats in terms of physical size, power use, write speed and memory protection, comes out at *less than* fifty cents per meg here in a giant size. This is long overdue and most welcome. SimpleTech cards have been very reliable despite their modestly discounted price.
Beware of warranty November 21, 2003 bastafidli (Dallas, TX United States) 17 out of 20 found this review helpful
The description says "Lasts forever with SimpleTech's lifetime guarantee" but when you get it you will find out that the limited warranty is only 1 year.

Got this one after returning a Sandisk 256 Mb Ultra II SD card (died after a few days of very minimal use), and this one works great. No problems since buying it a couple months ago. Using in in a Minolta Dimage Z1.
