Great quality August 29, 2008 Cmc I'm extremely picky about my electronics and felt a little uneasy about ordering a non brand name product without testing it out first. I was pleasantly surprised by this frame. I bought it for a wedding present and wanted it to play slideshows with music as well as videos. The quality of the pictures were great! My camera is a 7.1 megapixel camera so i was a little worried i'd have to edit each photo for the frame.. but I didn't! I didn't have to do a thing. I dragged and dropped my photos and songs onto a SD card, put it in, turned it on and there's the slideshow. The sound was great. Unlike other frames I've tested, playing music doesn't affect the quality of the pictures at all. Its like playing the slideshow off of a computer. The video also works as well.. I had an avi video taken with my camera and the frame plays it with no problems. As a side note, for those of you who care, there is also a calendar and you can also just play music. PS. I also tested out the cable that connects frame to laptop since some previous reviewers mentioned something about spam or spyware... nothing of that sort happened to me. Clean and easy transfers. BTW, I gave the present away yesterday and it moved the bride to tears!... I didn't even realize but the quality of the frame itself is made very well... no cheap materials here!
Major Caution! August 15, 2008 J. S. Francken (Litchfield Park, AZ United States) The only reason this got 2 stars from me was that it looks really nice and is very easy to use. I liked the product a lot. It had one huge downside though. The internal memory came loaded with malware. My sister-in-law connected this frame to her laptop and within minutes her computer went Poof! Dead. After doing some research online about this, it turns out a fair number of digital frames comes loaded with malware, spyware, etc. It would be very helpful if there was a way you could turn the frame on the first time and immediately wipe the memory. I plugged this into a Mac and had no problems, but the Windows laptop got infected and went to the BSOD within minutes. This is a great looking frame, very easy to use, and at a very reasonable price for all that. Just be careful with it and make sure your anti-spyware software is up to date. And shame on Amazon for selling products that are infected like this.
Only worked 4 months June 15, 2008 Christopher L. Jackson (Madison, MS) Bought this for Christmas -- backlight went out very shortly after the 120 day warranty was expired. Now useless -- a waste of money. Consider a more reliable brand, and check the warranty!
Looks very good and works decently June 7, 2008 Krishna Lakshminarasimhan (Sunnyvale, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for a friend recently. No complaints as yet. The software isn't all that great but the frame looks quite beautiful on the corner stand.
Aluratek Fails Support and Quality April 27, 2008 R. MCVETY (Tampa, FL USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I normally don't take the time to comment on products but the technical support of Aluratek is the worst I have ever seen. I purchased the model ADMPF110 and it was dead out of the box. I go round and round with their technical support via email and finally they give me an RMA to send it in for repair. I wanted to put this in the wall of a new house we are building so I needed it back pretty quickly. So I sent it to them over-night with all of the necessary paper work. 90 days later I get it back. By this time I had bought another brand unit to put in our new house. We were really busy getting the house completed so I didn't get around to looking at the Aluratek unit I got repaired under warranty unit about 3.5 months later. It was dead out of the box again! This time it made a faint clicking noise when turned off and on which was an improvement over last time, however, still nothing on the screen. Absolutely dead in all modes. Aluratek said that I had it over 90 days and that it was out of warranty and if I wanted to send it back in they would repair it for a fee. I explained that I never got to use it even once. The said it was out of warranty. I explained it was just barely out of warranty and they said it didn't matter, I should have checked it out when I first got it back. I told them that I am not their quality control department. Unless you want to get stuck with junk that doesn't work or unless you want to do the quality control for this company I suggest you don't buy any of their products.
