I Do Not Recommend... November 17, 2007 Dante (SoCal) 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
this digital frame due low image quality. The second I saw the Sunpak splash screen after power-on, I knew right away I wouldn't be satisfied with the image quality of the display. So, I went ahead and formated some images to 800x600 (native) resolution and loaded them in a CF card. Turned on the digital frame and my hunch was confirmed. The images were "blurry" and "washed out" are good descriptions. I played with the display settings, btw, not a user friendly interface in my opinion, with no luck in making the images appear better. I do so wanted to like this display because of the size to cost ratio, but in the end, you get what you paid for...I returned the display back to Amazon. Thank you Amazon for your great customer return service...easy as 1, 2, 3. Beware, it is *not* 802.11x wireless, it's wireless remote controllable.
Low resolution, washed out colors November 25, 2007 Julie (Hermosa Beach, CA USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I agree with the previous reviewer. My parents purchased this and couldn't figure out how to get the pictures to display "correctly", meaning in focus and with decent colors. Unfortunately, it was nothing that they were doing wrong. The display has the capability of transitioning slides every 5, 10, 20, or 30 seconds. In order to display a high quality image on a 800x600 device, the picture frame needs to down-sample the image (read real-time from a USB memory stick), and the pictures from my 10 MPixel camera took 20 seconds each to downsample and display, so the fastest transition between slides was 20 seconds for 10 MPixel photos. This wouldn't be so bad if the resulting image looked decent, but unless you stand 10 feet away from the screen and don't notice the lack of detail, you see a very substandard digital photo, not nearly as nice as one you would see on a mid-range computer monitor today. The instruction booklet does not describe how to use the Setup function. There are 13 mode selections, for example, that are unknowable as to what they do. Selecting different modes did not seem to alter the quality of the photo. My next test was to resample some of my photos down to 800x600 using Adobe Lightroom and see if they look any better when displayed on the picture frame. Judging by the prior review, this will not likely produce better results. I will update the review if they do. Would definitely not recommend this product.
12.1" Sunpak Digital Photo Frame November 26, 2007 Robert L. Hetzell (Cary, NC) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this digital photo frame as a gift. Should have tried it when I received it. Can not get a picture to show from any of my secure digital cards. It turns on but won't show any pictures. Only shows a hand when I try to start the pictures. Now I am stuck with returning to the manufacturer and after reading the other reviews don't expect much.
An Excellent Digital Frame December 19, 2007 Y. Chiu (NJ) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased this as a gift before any of the other reviews were posted. I had no difficulty loading pictures via a Kingston 1GB SD card. The images were very sharp and the colors were crisp. I do not know why the other reviewers had so much trouble with their units. My only complaint was that it arrived with a small scratch on the edge of the frame and the price was just reduced by about $30.
Do Not Purchase This December 18, 2007 Michael747 (Sacramento, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would give 0 stars if possible. Purchased this from PhotoWorld, through Amazon, in mid-November, prior to any user reviews. I also agree with the "Dante" review on everything he wrote; very poor image quality, ackward/non-intuitive user interface, and really wanted it to be a winner because of the size to cost ratio. Thank you PhotoWorld for your great customer service.
