I have never had a problem with mine and I have had it for about a year now. It is really quick and simple to use, no need to install anything; just plug it in and go.

1 out of 5 stars Connected WD HD and lost my CD-ROMs, no customer support :/   November 15, 2007

I purchased my Western Digital My Book 750GB Premium to back up my personal and business data, but then later heard about problems with WD hard drives failing and losing data. Assuming the problems with WD hard drive failures were from past products, I went ahead and connected the external hard drive to begin backing up my data. Upon connecting the external hard drive to my computer via the USB 2.0 connection, Windows re-assigned my D: drive to the external hard drive, thereby losing association with both my CD-ROM drives (which were D: and E: before I installed the external hard drive). I tried to contact WD by phone for support but couldn't reach a human. I emailed them, and WD confirmed the email for support, telling me in a reply email that they would give me an answer within one day. It is now three days later, I have heard nothing from Western Digital Support, and my CD-ROM drives are still unusable. I will look at Seagate or Toshiba products in the future.

5 out of 5 stars One heck of a product.   March 3, 2008

I've been an avid fan of WD for years. Whenever I did have a problem with any of the drives I was always able to get assistance from support line.

I bought the triple connectivity drive (eSATA.) I have to tell you this is one of the quietest drives I've ever (not) heard. It's fast and friendly and works like a charm.

Highly recommended!!!

1 out of 5 stars Worked for four months, then died.   July 4, 2008

I thought this was the best deal ever. About two houndred bucks for 750 gigs! It worked fine for four months, fast firewire transfer speed, worked great for me.

Then it died. It hasn't responded in three days.

Since day one I've been extremely careful with it, seldom moving it around, keeping it well vented, so you can be sure that it did not break from misuse.

The disk makes a clicking sound, like its trying to read, but after a few tries it turns off altogether.

I'll have to see if the warranty is still valid.

I think longevity is key when it comes to data storage - much more important than price.

1 out of 5 stars Dead after 4 days   May 7, 2008

I wish I would of done a bit of research on external hard drives before this purchase. My drive would not light or startup after 4 days of use. Don't take my word for it...Just look at the hundreds of posts on forums and bogs regarding the "My Book" line of WD drives and you will see how widespread the issues/failures are. It's ridiculous.

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
