Excellent value for Zoom on a Sony Alpha March 9, 2007 M. J. Clark 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I wanted a good value zoom lens for my Sony Alpha noting that I expected it to be used occassionally given the good standard lens that comes with the camera. Given the stablising kit is in the camera and not the lens then I wanted something that would work well even at the 300mm in relatively poor UK light. The build quality is excellent for the money; the quality of the pictures is really high and I like the zoom mechanism which is simply a pull action. Clearly there are lighter lenses but not at such a price. The 28mm is clearly a digital 28mm which is more like a 40mm on a film SLR but I didn't buy it as a wide angle and thus the 300mm is more like a 375mm for a film camera. I have used it with flash and daylight and the shots are good noting the f/4-6.3 limitations. If you are a hobbyist photographer like me this is really good value for money acquisition and even more so if you are buying in pounds on a visit to the US. Now need to find the right camera case to accommodate it!
Worth every penny September 24, 2007 Harry (FL) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Saved over $150 by going with this lens. It is very sharp. Having a 28-300mm on a Alpha is fantastic.
Great product for the price December 14, 2007 M. Roenfeld (Upton, WY USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have been searching for a zoom lens for a while. This one, while a different color from my camera, fits it well and works great. It is 28-300 so I don't have to change lenses out if I want to take wider angle pictures. I am definatley happy with it and for the price it is well worth it.
It has interior scratches that blurr images June 26, 2007 U. vargas (USA,CA) 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
I noticed that my photos had common spots on all of my photos in the same areas. I inspected my lens to see if for some reason I had any visible scratches on the exterior lens filter or the lens. It turn out to be that it had some interior scratches or bubbles inside the lens. I would like a exchange or get my money back.
It works for now... July 4, 2008 Deborah C. Berberi (Northwest, FL) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Well, I have to say that I bought this lens because, It is the only one I could afford for now. Am I happy with it? Pretty much. It is heavy and, I'm not used to that but, it works well with the Sony A-100 and anti-shake helps also. I for one don't like pulling it out to zoom...it falls down every time I move the camera...unless I lock it (which is a pain). The image quality...well what can I say. It is alright. It seems too soft to me. But, you can judge for yourself. [...]
