Great Inverter February 17, 2004 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
This is probably one of the best out there. IT has a user replacable fuse, two outlets, overload & underload indicators and is fairly powerful. My only complaint is its kind of noisy with the fan on, but you cant hear it anymore when the radio is on.
Too noisy November 30, 2004 Matt Smith (San Jose, CA) 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
I got this inverter because it is compact, has a good power rating, and has two outlets. Unfortunately, I had to stop using it, because it is just too noisy to use in my car. I preferred the APC Air/Auto DC to AC Power Inverter, which is fanless and silent. That one only has a single outlet and only supplies 75w, but it's enough to run my laptop. In a different environment, I could see this being an excellent choice.
Small, well-built and extremely quiet. August 2, 2006 S. Chase (Qatar) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Excellent design! After much research, I purchased this item and have used it extensively for the past couple months. So far, nothing negative to report. Many reviews commented on how loud the fan was but I barely heard it at all. Nor did it get too warm. It's pretty basic mechanically, so I assume it's as dependable as any other inverter. If you're not sure what size to get, always be on the safe side and GO LARGE! Tripp Lite makes them in various sizes.
Excellent Product September 13, 2006 J. Lantz (Steel City, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've owned my Tripp Lite Power Inverter for over 5 years now and it still works like a charm. The fan is a bit noisy, but you normally won't hear it while traveling or simply by having the radio on. The low battery warning is crucial as it prevents you from draining the battery beyond the point of needing jumper cables. I've never tried any of the other power inverters, but there has been no need as this satisfies every need.
Won't power more than 150 watts December 11, 2006 Tim W. (Carson City, Nevada United States) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This unit is rated for 375 watts continuous power, but started giving me an overload alarm with just a 150 watt light bulb plugged in, with the engine running. With 170 watts, the inverter simply shut off. I tried several different appliances and tried the inverter in two cars with different batteries. In both cases, 120 watts worked fine, but anything higher caused problems. Also, the engine had to be running continuously for this to work. Otherwise the inverter turned off within two minutes. Maybe I just got a bad unit, but I was not impressed!
