ILFORD SFX 200 is a specialist black and white camera film with extended red sensitivity for special effects. Nominally rated at ISO 200/24 when exposed in daylight without filters and developed in standard ILFORD developers. For maximum effect use a deep red filter such as the SFX filters. More subtle effects can be achieved using standard black and white filters.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Ilford has started to manufacture their SFX 200 film again. Many years ago it was one of my favorite films for portraiture, the near IR sensitivity smoothes out skin tones and creates interesting tonality.
The film prints well and requires no special handling compared to more traditional infrared film. Just don't let it set on your dashboard or load the film in bright sun light and you'll be all good.
You're going to have a tough time creating traditional IR effects with this film. If you use a dark red IR filter you can get closer to the white foliage and black sky look of real IR film, but it's still not really the same effect. SFX is more subtle and in my view infinitely more useable.
Highly recommended.
