MacBook Pro plug and go April 9, 2008 Steven Sherman 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Ordered from here after reading other places that it was MBP compatible and needed no extra drivers, performs as advertised! Just pulled it straight from the package and clicked it into my xpress34 slot. You don't even know it is recognized until you actually put a card in. I inserted my SD card to test and the image capture app opened up like i have it set to do. Nice addition to the MBP, even if it should have been there in the first place.
Great use for the ExpressCard slot on a Macbook Pro August 28, 2008 Todd W. Homan-jones (Washington, DC) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Not much to add from the previous reviews, but here's my quick Pro/Con List, from a MacBook Pro POV Pro: --100% Plug-n-Play --Sits near-flush, no need to remove when you pack up your laptop --No 'sleep issues' as reported by some ExpressCard readers by other manufacturers Con: --Blister pack is nasty - I took a chunk out of my finger trying to get the damn thing out of the packaging (more me being clumsy than a product defect - just keep in mind that the cut packaging is as sharp as a blade) --'21 in 1' is a bit of misnomer - you need adapters for all the mini/micro SD/MS cards (most smaller cards are sold with adapters, so not a major issue, just something to keep in mind) --Edit: I'm dumb - you just push the card in and it pops out like normal - I had been trying to yank it out. --Cards do NOT sit flush (at least not with SD/MS), so you should remove before stowing the laptop. (to the best of my knowledge, no ExpCard reader allows cards to sit flush though) Conclusion: This is 'best in class' as far as I am concerned. Buy it, you won't regret it.
Adds What the MacBook Pro Should Have Had July 9, 2008 A.K. (Pennsylvania) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A product that does exactly what it claims, and does what Apple should have done in the first place. First, it sits 99% flush with the side of the MBP, which means you can leave it in the computer when you place the computer in even the most snug cases. Second, it simply works--pop in an SD card or Memory Stick, and it appears on the desktop. Third, did I mention it simply works? It complements the Mac line and OS quite well in that respect. My only complaint, which is easily addressed, is that when used with Memory Sticks, you must use one hand to hold the card in while you pull the Memory Stick out. This is because the pin connection for the Memory Stick is quite snug, and if you do not, you'll pull out the entire card reader. SD cards, however, work perfectly--not too snug, and easily pull out.
Fits flush! July 10, 2008 Alan Edwards (Miami, FL United States) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Fits flush on the 34mm slot on my Macbook Pro. Works great. Pity Apple doesn't make a multiformat card reader standard. Recommended.
Great Product July 16, 2008 I. Reyes (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I needed something for my MacBook Pro so that I could transfer pictures to my computer by using my SD card. This is perfect for that. The Expresscard stays in my computer without having to install any programs and is pretty much unnoticeable from the outside. You can see two little black bumps sticking out at either side of the card so it's not 100% flush with the side of the computer but it comes pretty close. Overall, a great product that I don't regret purchasing.
