This product is great! (Useful Vista infomation) June 15, 2007 Dennis A. Crespo (Palo Alto, CA, USA) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
I know this product well so let me try to clear up some of the issues.
1) Toshiba does sell 2 versions of this dock 1 that supports 1280x1024 monitors or 19inch monitors and below and another the other that supports 1680x1050 and 1600x1200 or monitors up to 22 inch and beyond.
2) Vista support for both devices for extended mode operation will be available soon because the technology provider www.displaylink.com already announced full Vista support so Toshiba just needs to test the software then post an update, like every other hardware vendor trying to support Vista.
3) Not sure about the eject issue, but I can say that Vista is loaded with USB issues.
I have a DVI dock on my desk and it works flawlessly with XP and Vista in mirror mode. I highly recommend this product because I only need 1 cable to get my monitor, Ethernet, Audio, and USB devices to work. Nice and clean!
It does not work well with Vista May 28, 2007 Alana Crow (Portland, OR USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This product needs work. It is not fully compatible with Vista, firstly you can not operate in Aero mode. Secondly, I missed the small print on the Toshiba site and monitors will only work in mirror mode not extended, as I prefer to work. Besides mirror mode on my external monitor looks like garbage and there is no way to adjust the settings for it to improve things. I also have had problems with the "eject" command so that I can safely eject my notebook from the Dynadock. Basically totally frustrated with the replicator and highly discourage Vista users from purchasing this product.
Solid product January 15, 2008 askCRM (Charlotte, NC) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
We purchased this for someone in our office. The idea was that, rather than buying expensive docking stations that would have to be replaced when they get a new portable, we can use this device that is less expensive and can be re-used. It performs well for what we purchased it for. We can connect multiple components to it (including external monitor, keyboard, mouse and CD-ROM drive) and it handles all of them well. The only complaints: * It's a bit obtrusive on the desktop * I'm not sure if it can support all of the screen resolutions that we may want to have (though we have not run into that problem yet) * It seems a bit expensive for a "port replicator" - but with a single connection to link to the monitor too, we think it's a good buy We will probably be buying additional units like this so everyone can use their laptop at home or at the office by connecting a single cable to this.
Toshiba Dynadock December 28, 2007 LL (NY) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This really solved a lot of my needs. I have everything I leave at home hooked into it, and when I need to take the laptop with me, I just "undock", pull the plug, and go. The one thing I would have liked is a volume control on the sound jack. The sound from my computer volume control doesn't "take" anymore. Have to use the speaker's volume control, which was difficult to get to. And, my wireless mouse doesn't function as well in the usb ports on the Dynadock. It works better on a direct port in the computer. It's fine that way though, since when I take my computer somewhere, I also take the mouse, so I would need to take it out of the dynadock anyway. Overall A great purchase.
Frustrating March 18, 2008 hertzc31 (United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product did not work for me. I have a Toshiba laptop and tried connecting an LG LCD monitor using a DVI connection. This should have been a slam dunk but I encoutered numerous problems. Audio worked well, so did the mouse/keyboard. Video was a disaster. I'm returning it now.
