Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The BenQ FP241W is the world's first LCD monitor with HDMI. HDMI not only enables 5Gbps data transfers, but eliminates the need for signal conversions, ensuring the best quality video. In addition, unlike other high-performance displays, the FP241W uses only a single HDMI cable, which carries the best quality video signals. The result is less clutter and hassle-free installation.

1 out of 5 stars Chronic Black Out Issues   December 18, 2007

I purchased this monitor to use with my computer. I was surprised to see the screen intermittenly black out and reappear. This occurred using the monitor at 1920 x 1200 resolution. I tried two different video cards, namely an ATI Radeon X1950 Pro and an eVGA GeForce 8800 GTS. Both are very good video cards that work fine with my Dell 20.1" LCD monitor. But the blackout problem occurred with both video cards. Sometimes the monitor would go black and never come back, so I had to turn off the computer using the power button. Thinking maybe I had a setting wrong on either the monitor or video card drivers, I tried Googling for "BENQ FP241W blackout" and turned up many instances of people experiencing the same problem. This issue has been around for years and has never been fixed. I recommend avoiding this monitor as it is manufactured with a defect that prevents it from being used to its fullest extent. But as far as I know it's the only 24-inch monitor with HDMI, so I guess I have to give it a little credit for that (one star).

5 out of 5 stars Lives up to reviews   February 25, 2008

Had this monitor now for a month. Upgraded from a 19inch CRT. Thus far it lives up to the rave reviews.

Seemed huge when I first put it on the desk, but actually takes up less room than my old CRT monster. I use monitor for both professional tasks (spreadsheets, writing, photoshop, etc.), and gaming. Handles both equally well.

In business apps Text and images are sharp and accurate. In gaming the images look great, nice blacks and I've never experienced any ghosting in Crysis. Thinking maybe that is more something only extreme gaming enthusiasts might notice... or maybe I am just getting old and can't see anymore. Either way the monitor works and looks amazing. Would get another in a heartbeat.
