Avoid at all costs June 30, 2008 WanChaiMan (Hong Kong, China) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this unit as a replacement "upgrade" for the 5.6" one I first bought which was cheap but not very cheerful on the eyes. Yes - you cant get rid of the picture of the baby that comes with the unit but worse still was that it started having problems after only a very short time. This new unit worked great ... nice display with crisp and clear pictures.. but only for a few hours after which the "auto-fit" function stopped working and it put nasty rainbow coloured borders around the pictures instead of fitting pictures to suit the position of the frame (landscape/portrait). Even worse, ALL the portrait orientation pictures were distorted and looked extremely pixelated. Even if I created pictures 800 x 600 it still gave problems..... What a waste of my weekend.... It always seems the same these days. When a new technical thing comes out there are always bugs... then down the road they fix them with a "firmware upgrade". But why do the users have to suffer for this "beta testing" which should have been fixed in the labs? My advice is to totally avoid this range of photo frames!
Very happy with it September 17, 2008 FelixJG (Dover, NJ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased two as gifts. I found the picture quality to be excelent. Good 800 by 600 dpi resolution. I had no problem loading pictures and viewing both thru a 1 gig SD card and the usb connection. I had a little trouble navigating the menu but then I only looked at the instructions for about one minute. Once I figured it out it was easy enough. I really liked the range of times available for the slide viewing, from 5 seconds to 1 day. I liked the auto shutoff feature. I did have a little trouble with copying pictures over. Seems like I had to create subfolders in order for all the pictures to copy over. But once over they all displayed. It does not bring a remote or play video or sound but I did not want those features anyway. Over all I'm very happy and will probably buy one for myself soon.
Disappointing, buggy product June 20, 2008 Jaye (Michigan) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this frame because I wanted 800x600 resolution, and the manufacturer's claim that it plugged and played with Windows Vista. The following is my experience with the product. I installed a SD card, powered it on, and plugged it into the PC with the supplied USB cable. The frame showed up as a two drives under Vista, which I'm assuming is because it has two types of memory slots. I copied a couple of test images over and unplugged it. I had a bit of trouble with the menu navigation of the product, it seemed slow and unresponsive, and a bit unintuitive to me. However, once I had the slideshow going the picture quality seemed nice enough. Unfortunately then the trouble started. I attempted to delete the Manufacturer's test images, and that failed. While the baby is cute, it is no relation to me and I would not want to see it mixed in with my pictures. But that's not the worst part. I plugged it back into the PC to copy more images, and this time it wasn't recognized, and Vista reported it as bad. So I rebooted Vista. This time it showed up, but the memory card showed up as empty, even though it was still displaying my original test pictures. So I powered off the unit, removed the memory card, put the card back in, and powered it back on. The memory and my original test pictures still did not show up. So I rebooted Vista again and powered the unit on/off. Still no luck so I gave up. The product might work better under Windows XP, I can not say. But it definitely has problems with Vista (Vista Business Edition 64-bit to be exact). I sadly returned it for a refund, but at least Amazon is a great store to deal with when it comes to returns.
A First Class Product November 10, 2008 Alan Mattock (Issaquah, WA United States) The photo frame worked as advertised straight out of the box, using Windows XP. Very good sharp pictures. Navigation through the menus could be easier, but is possible with the help of the instructions. No complaints.
