The first time you hold the Cruzer Titanium USB Flash Drive in your hands, you notice the solid build and mild heft of the Titanium casing. It includes a Titanium clip for shirt pockets which you snap on. Or use the optional lanyard.
Plug it in and watch it come to life with the ultra cool blue status light, and your PC instantly recognizes it. The Launchpad tour takes you through the world of your Cruzer drive and you can even click for an online video. If you delete the U3 software you are cheating yourself out of SO MUCH. I have owned a 1 GB Memorex U3 drive for about 1.5 years now, and couldn't imagine my computer life without it. I rebuild a lot of computers and use it to keep patches on it. You can't d/l all this stuff - it takes too much time! But it was getting filled and the McAfee anti-virus would no longer run.
The Cruzer is the next generation of U3 and I really feel like I have something for the 21st century. No anti-virus on the computer you use? No problem! The included Avast anti-virus software is awesome. You have the option of letting the memory resident anti-virus shield load everytime you plug-in your Cruzer. Plus the settings let you do things like select which folder you want to scan and how complex a scan. McAfee had NOTHING like that.
It includes other programs you are free to use or delete. They offer one month free of Skype to use any pc as a telephone. Plus a graphics viewer and games like Mahjong. But the FREE U3 software is great.
I got OpenOffice which allows to read, edit, save and print files like .doc, and Excel! FoxIt Reader allows you to read .pdf files WITHOUT Adobe Reader. The "Clean My Registry" program does just that. Not to mention you can download browsers like FireFox and Mozilla, and security software. Lots of it free! Some are trial based and then you buy. Well worth the price.
I am trying out the free WeatherBug program. It is set to run each time I plug in my U3, and now I know the temperature based on my zipcode. It chirps if there is a storm warning in the area. How cool is that?
One of the shortcomings of U3 is fixed in this version. Sometimes the launchpad doesn't launch even if you use the option to do so. In that case, start it manually, then go to Settings/Launchpad Settings and use the option to load a small memory resident program to detect your U3 drive. It stays on your computer so Launchpad now works every time! Go back to unload the memory resident software. That simple!
If you never used U3 before, now is the time to do so. I've loaded this drive with more software and patches than ever, and still have 2.6 GB of free space. Go ahead and break your PC, I'm ready for you!

This SanDisk 4 GB Cruzer Titanium is a fine USB drive, and a good value;
but that value is heavily offset by the inclusion of the junk 'U3' software that comes pre-installed on the drive and cannot be removed by normal means. Every time you install this drive it puts an application on your task bar. If you delete the pre-installed junk by dragging it to the trash, it 'magically' (and annoyingly) re-appears, and runs, when you re-install the thumb drive. Total Crap! You have to download an uninstaller from the U3 website to get this crap off the drive (I assume by reformatting). Who knows what the installer really does? Who knows what's on there that the 'uninstaller' doesn't really remove?
Seems like a decent enough drive otherwise, but why buy from a company that insults and assaults you with junk software you don't want?

Just a short review...
I just returned from the laundromat, where I left my 512MB Cruzer Titanium in a pair of pants. They went through the wash and I became aware of this when the Cruzer fell out of the pants in the dryer, making a hellacious racket in the process.
I pretty much figured that 2 years worth of menus and plate photos went down the drain; I'm a chef. When I got home, just on a whim, I hooked up the Cruzer, and it promptly lit up and it's icon flashed up on my desktop. The data was there, and unharmed.
Needless to say, I'm pretty damn impressed with my Cruzer. I'm in the process of buying a 4 gig Cruzer Titanium. I think the Cruzer did more damage to the dryer...

I've been using this 4GB stick and its 2GB little brother for a long time. The build is beautiful and it has always worked flawlessly. Highly recommended. U3 doesn't interest me and the first thing I always do is remove it, so no comment on that.
