Keyboard of choice, some reservations May 28, 2003 Zachary Gochenour (Northern VA, USA) 50 out of 50 found this review helpful
The Microsoft Office Keyboard is the best value currently available (as long as you're right handed). It is fully integrated into the - you guessed it - Microsoft Office XP suite of software products, which is what I, and many other users, use most frequently for work. This keyboard will simply make you faster and more productive, giving you easy access to common functions with simple keystrokes and button presses. The keyboard also has its own scroll wheel, edit keys, and multimedia controls that you might expect from any premium keyboard. The keyboard is not wireless - but who cares? Who uses their keyboard halfway across the room from their desktop? Save your money and buy a wireless/optical mouse, which actually is useful. The keyboard is large and may not fit into some keyboard drawers - check yours before you make a purchase. Also, if you are left handed, consider another keyboard - most of the functions are to the left of the standard QWERTY pad. The keyboard is normal - none of this curvy, split, ergonomically designed nonsense. The delete key is large, but other than that it is designed very similarly to your standard windows keyboard. The keys are comfortable and well-padded, and the wrist rest is large enough for big hands, and I type comfortably at 100 WPM for long periods of time. I highly recommend this keyboard to those it is intended for: right-handed, MS Office-using, practical computer users.
Great keyboard except one huge problem... February 7, 2003 15 out of 26 found this review helpful
I loved this keyboard except they messed with the layout of the edit keys (insert, delete, home, end, pgup, pgdown)I never look at my keyboard I know where all the keys are and I kept hitting the wrong key on this board because they felt the need to make their "special" little layout. I couldn't get past it. They turned an otherwide great product into a smoking pile of junk!
By The Way, It's Discontinued...... April 13, 2004 14 out of 27 found this review helpful
Microsoft no longer makes the Office Keyboard. Now you know why these are inexpensive.
What about us Lefties ? ! ? ! ? February 18, 2003 7 out of 36 found this review helpful
There are people who use the mouse with the left hand. This product obviously can not be used.
Was Northgate the only keyboard maker who knew about 10 keys February 26, 2003 David J. Simecek (Cleveland, OH United States) 7 out of 50 found this review helpful
While automatic or program keyboards can be useful, NO ONE since the demise of Northgate has had the common sense to offer a keyboard that can ACUTALLY BE USEFUL to someone entering numeric data. If you enter an = at the end of a formula or calculation, where do you find it? Why, up on the keyboard next to the BACKSPACE key, which requires you to remove and reset your hand. It is so STUPID it is hard to see why we are offered gadgets, but not the most important change. Oh, I'm left handed, but long ago taught myself how to use a keypad with my right hand along with the mouse. It can be a dangerous and inconvient world for us, but although we are probably the most discriminated against minority in the US of A we better make the best of it-NO help is in sight. By the way, with a good keyboard (of which there are few) I can type over 50 words/min., so the equal sign location is a major problem. Never mind extra keys all over the board, just put an = on the key pad where it belongs!
