Not compatible with Palm OS 5 May 16, 2003 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
Be careful, this keyboard is not yet compatible with Palm OS 5, so if you purchased for example the Palm Tungsten it will not work!Got this email from Logitech (Thu, 15 May 2003 16:10:39 GMT): The Palm Tungsten T has OS 5 while the Palm devices our keyboards currently operate on are using OS 4.1. Unfortunately, the software that comes with our keyboards does not support Palm OS 5. Generally, Logitech tries to have a new release of software for each product when a new Operating System is released, although that is not always possible. We are currently working on supporting this OS; however, we cannotprovide a date for software availability. When developing software, new issues may be found that can delay the initial expected release date. This is why Logitech does not give exact dates for software releases. Please visitour web site periodically for updates to software [URL]
Logitech TypeAway Keyboard for Palm January 2, 2003 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
I basically like this little keyboard because of its portability, price, and feel. It's small enough to fit in my pocket and very cool to use. You have to remember to fold down the small brackets in front of the keyboard. The keys have a nice feel to them. My only criticism is that it is not quite a full size keyboard. Though the keys are full size themselves, the spacing between the keys is not quite like a full size keyboard. However for my purposes, light typing, a short report, or a letter, it's fine. I hotsync my documents to my computer, save, and print them out with "Documents to Go," and there you are. An addendum: You have to make sure your hands have the proper support and the proper angle when typing or else you'll wind up with tingling hands and possible pain. You have to take breaks, stretch your hands, type for a short while, etc.
Also works with other models: Zire 71, etc December 26, 2003 Anthony Pace 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have a Zire 71 (OS 5.2). This keyboard with the latest (last, as Logitech has announced that they are stopping development) driver works. It interferes with the predisplay of the camera image, but turning off the driver solves this problem. HotSyncing is a minor issue as well. On the whole it's not perfect, but reasonable at the price.
pretty neat May 20, 2003 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Compact, light, portable. A great little keyboard that does the job unless you use your palm like your laptop - not meant for huge writing tasks as the keys are a little close together but if you use it to make notes etc, its brilliant!
Good keyboard, especially for the price! December 7, 2004 Omega (Nashville, TN) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Okay, here's the thing. Logitech's OS 5 drivers apparently suck to the point that it's absurd that they can claim compatability. BUT, they're not the only game in town. This site has a driver that's works beautifully. I wish I'd known about it back when I had a G700. Just be sure to tell the driver the correct keyboard layout, otherwise some keys won't work right. As for the keyboard itself, it's not the best layout in the universe. The backspace key not being in the upper right takes some getting used to, and certain symbols are in odd spots. Still, it's very usable. There's a BIG space in the middle of the keyboard where the hinge is, but oddly, it doesn't interfere with typing much. The keys to either side of it being oversized probably helps. I just have to train myself to hit the 'y' key with my right hand! The original Stowaway and the Targus universal wireless were probably a bit more comfortable to use. However, this one folds up to something about the size of a Stowaway XT, and costs a fraction of the others. With the new drivers that make it work at LEAST with the Tungsten T, and probably with other OS 5 models with the universal connector, I definitely recommend this keyboard. The price point can't be beat.
