Where have you been all my life October 9, 2002 Carlos G. Diaz (San Antonio, Tx) 28 out of 33 found this review helpful
Since I build PC's as a hobby I have run into so many types of keyboards that I often times wonder why I have yet to get one of these multi purpose models. Previously I made do with a basic Dell Quietkey that was ok cept for the defective spacebar. Yet I decided to try a better keyboard when I saw this model advertised on TechTV. Similar to the Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard both offer multi colored layouts with programmable hotkeys for Internet Tools, Search Buttons, Webcam and Audio Controls. The Logitech Keyboard however offers a scroll wheel that gives you extra control to navigate web pages and other long forms with ease. The Hotkeys are easily programmed and work seamlessly with my KVM switch; this is a great feature since I use both Windows XP and Win2000. The keystrokes are smooth, offering a light quiet touch to ease typing. The Keyboard come with a USB connector but Logitech includes a color keyed PS/2 adaptor that work very well if you want to use a more traditional 6 pin connector. The feature I enjoy most are the audio controls that allow you to pick any multimedia player from Winamp to Windows Media Player and control the volume as well as pause or jump to another song. This feature comes in handy when you have a hundred or more MP3's you want to listen to without having to switch between apps. Overall a good buy from a great company. They also make a black model but that one is a bit more pricey.
Wonderful Keyboard January 23, 2003 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
I just had to let everyone know how pleased I have been with this keyboard. When my Compaq keyboard went out I panicked! I knew I needed a keyboard asap, but I knew I had wanted one that was quiet as well. So I went to the local Fry's to try some out. I was trying out the so-called "quiet" keyboards and they just didn't seem too quiet. They were also very pricey. So I decided to check on some of the cheaper models for now, and then I figured I could upgrade later. I saw this keyboard and was amazed. It is so quiet and so comfortable, which is such a big plus because I am typing all day every day. I have never had a better keyboard, and I can't believe it is such a great deal! I would have paid the price just to have the keyboard, but all the additional quick keys are great! I can access my email, my volume, favorites, music, and messenger services with one touch. The scrolling button is VERY neat! I won't have any need to upgrade this keyboard, it is a dream. I recommend this keyboard to everyone!
Great For Basic Normal Use. However, Has Flaws. July 12, 2005 Nathan T. (SOMEWHERE) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
I've had this keyboard for a few weeks and overall, the good thing about the keyboard is that it is a great overall keyboard. The keys are relatively soft to the touch, pretty quiet, but not much of a difference to my old one that came with the cpu. It does not affect my typing at the least, the wrist rest an appreciated extra because my last keyboard, however, I wish the wrist wrest was made from a softer material. The media buttons are nice, but I would rather have the volume control knob instead. Also, the media button also gives you the option to choose which media player you want. Can't program. So basically, its a push and click away, not just a push of a button that I want it to be. If you are planning to use this keyboard mainly for normal typing and functions of a keyboard, than its as good as it comes. There is also a small scroller on the left part of the keyboard if you look at the picture of it. However, if you have a mouse with a scroller already, this wouldn't be used much. However, here are the flaws: -Have problem with putting cpu on safemode using this keyboard. F8 doesn't work. -The term internet navigator only seems to work for my Internet Explorer and not for other kind of browsers like Avant/Firefox/ETC. So if you are using it, there goes many of those extra keys on this keyboard, especially the ones at the top right. -Volume control tends to cause minor lag to cpu. I have a 2.5 GHZ 1.5 GB DDR cpu. It especially shows when you are using the windows media player, you'll see it. -I can't seem to configure many of the so called configurable keys, like the webcam. -Sometimes upon startup, the keyboard's media and top left and right controls don't work. Maybe there's more but thats all I use. So I have to reboot the computer in order to get it back. -The new extra keys make the keyboard look...more high tech and gives it a look of higher value than what it does cost. However, most of it will be useless because the average user would rather just click on what they need than find the key on the keyboard...THE MANY KEYS ON THE KEYBOARD. -F lock makes it more complicated. There's more about this, but for you to find out. HOWEVER...HOWEVER. For the price (I bought this keyboard, BRAND NEW IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX WITH EVERYTHING, for $11 total!) this is definately...definately a good keyboard. If you use IE, than that just means you have the use of nearly all of the keys on this keyboard and can take advantage of its function completely. And maybe the problems I have is just me and my computer. Its a pretty good looking keyboard and you should be very happy with it for the money. Good day to all.
Very Nice! September 12, 2003 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
I use a Dell Quiet Key at work, and then I would come home and use a cheap, loud, flimsy keyboard at home. I hated it! So I was pretty sure that this keyboard would be an improvement at the least, if not quite up to par with the Dell. What a pleasant surprise! This keyboard is head and shoulders above any I've ever used, including the Dell. I LOVE the extra features such as the media control buttons and the internet function keys. I didn't think I would use them at all, but I use them all the time. Who would've thought a keyboard would improve my surfing experience? I would recommend this to anyone with confidence.
Cool keyboard December 12, 2002 Master Manilla (home) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Ok, I wanted a new keyboard to replace mine on my HP Pavilion. So, I did research and I at first wanted the Elite model of the keyboard, but it was close to $... dollars. I saw this one on sale at Staples for $..., and I bought it. I like this one because there are only a few differences between them both...for one is the color. The volume is a little more digital than the elite model. Other than that, this one is the same exact one. I took it home and it works so good on Windows XP, where I had a hard time finding converters to get my old keyboard to work on Windows XP. Not only that, but it is comfortable to type on my Logitech keyboard. I am never buying Microsoft keyboards again. Logitech is my choice on keyboards.
