Product Description The dual band user configurable 802.11a or 802.11b/g, Wi-Fi certified 3Com Wireless 7760 11a/b/g PoE Access Point is an attractive solution for cost effectively and securely extending mobile access to wired network resources or creating full-featured networks in small and medium businesses, remote sites, or temporary locations. Displaying ultra-fast speeds of up to 108Mbps in turbo mode, and superior long-range connectivity with eXtended range (XR) technology this access point supports up to 64 wireless users, so there is plenty of room for growth.PoE support overcomes installation problems by eliminating the need for an AC power plug at each AP. The 3Com Switch 5500-EI PWR, 3Com Baseline Switch 2226- PWR Plus or other IEEE 802.3af-compliant PoE products can supply both power and data to the access points through Category 5 or 6 Ethernet cabling, giving you flexible installation options in hard to wire or reach locations.

not worth the money September 5, 2007 z1ny (new york, ny) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For what I paid, I was seriously expecting an industrial-strength access point with a solid range. I have used other 3Com access points such as the 8250 in larger environments with desired results, but this one doesn't measure up AT ALL. I mounted it centrally about 7 feet up a wall, tried different antennas, different physical locations, different software settings, firmware upgrades, etc, but my cheap crappy netgear consumer wireless router gets better range, and from farther away will generate a better signal than this 3Com. Sorely disappointed.
